If going big fails, what small moves should the Pels be looking at?

If we can't land a big fish like Beal, to me the goal of any trade should be pushing the net negative players seeing regular minutes out of the rotation.

Hiil/Fraizer/Diallo/Clark/Johnson

That means we need a PG and a SF, or, a guard that can pretend to be a SF like Moore. Does Satoransky check all of those boxes? He's big, hits the 3 around 40%, has a 3:1 assist to turnover ratio. He's an RFA next season so he'd also be insurance if Payton leaves or if you find someone better than Payton to use the MLE on.

How much would he cost? Could it be as cheap as taking salary off their books like Wes Johnson for Satoransky/Dwight?

I'm all in on getting the Prince/Bazemore/Dedmon combo.

Something like this plus a top 10 protected 1st and a pick swap. This year's late lottery isn't that great anyway.

I can’t believe Prince would be available, but I’d gladly take him for a first. I would only hope our draft pick could be as good as him.
Lin and Prince would be ideal. And I still like Bembry, but can’t see them letting go of both prince and Bembry.

Prince is VERY much available, which has to make you pause.

Asked my friend why, he said, "He's not a playmaker or very good off the dribble. He can drive in a straight line and is a solid shooter, but we don't think he will ever be great. Can't grasp on to complicated defensive schemes."

On the plus side, he said they spent last year testing him and just might have asked him to do too much. They think his ceiling is a very good role player but they don't think he will accept being paid like a role player nor will he accept that role for them moving forward.

This is what happens when you try to develop players on a terrible team. If this kid starts his career out with the Spurs, he is only asked to do one or two things and they build him up from there. That is why, if the Pels trade AD, I wouldn't want to completely blow it up. Stay competitive and build young talent simultaneously

I've been saying for MONTHS to trade for both. They both are very ideal fits for us IMO.

Swap Dedmon with Len and the Pels can keep Moore. Atlanta get all expiring contracts.

Ideal - A person or a thing regarded as perfect.

Ideal - Satisfying one's concept of what is perfect.

Nobody on the Hawks is IDEAL for the Pelicans. There are some guys who are better than our current garbage. None of them are close to IDEAL.

We should look to make smaller moves to get more depth..

Milwaukee apparently was interested in Randle earlier this year, I'd try to flip him for Brogdon and Snell..

Memphis should be about ready to start selling, Hill,Wes and Williams for Gasol would work (saves them about 5 mil this year and 13 next)

We should be able to do both of those moves and still keep our pick..

I have a feeling a surprise team will become a seller before the deadline, and I'm probably wrong but this year or in the offseason I have a feeling someone like Porzingas will be available for trade.. I've seen a couple articles now that NY is afraid of giving him a full max and hamstringing themselves

Why does Memphis do this without a draft pick? Do you think they are convinced he will exercise his option?

He more than likely will opt in.. I'm sure he knows he wont get more than 25 mil on the open market..

Instead of Wes and Clark, we may have to send Moore and Diallo, but I would still do it..

Trading Marc won’t get you another first-round pick, Jayson Tatum, Kyle Kuzma, another All-Star, or Jaylen Brown. I don’t know if you could get more than an older rotation player and a “B-” prospect.

I agree crews that it’s a little worrisome that Atlanta may be looking to give up on Prince. I think I remember reading something about him being a little dumb defensively a while back.

Why aren’t we looking to get Dennis Smith Jr? Is it possible to get him and Barnes with only 1 first? Adding those two would be a huge. They meet both of our biggest needs.

Why even bother with Mavs players? As if Cuban would ok giving the Pels useful players. Not happening.

Wont be an issue here then

I wouldnt think. Thats quite a bit. DSJ is a real nice player and Barnes still fills up the stats a bit. IMO that would be a big hit for Dallas seeing as Smith was a 1st rounder in himself.

The more I think about it the more open I am to trading the first round pick and Hill for Barnes if hes available. I didnt relize he was only 26. Thought he was 28-29. Feels like he been around forever. Whats the reason Mavs are shopping him?

Prince is a good young player on a cheap deal. Grab him if you can.

This franchise should be grabbing guys in the “secondary draft” in order to save money for big fish. If ownership really will pay the tax, this is how you build depth.

Barnes has a player option. I would bet missing the playoffs again increases the chances that Barnes walks this summer.

Agree on Scott + price is likely too high.

I've grown increasingly enamored of an incremental buy. I really think this team is an athletic wing and good back up PG away from being in the playoffs. Not that those are easy to pick up off the street, but it looks like there will be some talent that aligns with the Pels needs available. I just wish they hadn't waited this long, maybe too long, to do a deal, even if it meant an overpay.

Dream/realistic back up PGs: Brogdon from the Bucks; Lin from Hawks; Satoransky Wiz.

Dream/realistic SF: Porter from Wiz; Ross from Magic; Bazemore or Prince Hawks.

Wild Card Surprises: Pels first + player = Brown from Cs, Ingram from Lakers or Warren from Suns. I can feel the tension building in Bean Town and La La Land...

Meh Moves: Barnes from Mavs. Not in love with his game especially at his prices. Batum from Hornets. See the logic if we get picks as well, but it's essentially chucking in the towel on this team.
