Just like our last matchup when we went to Oracle and pulled off a win despite KD dropping 41, put Jrue on Klay and shut him down. I think Solo should guard KD because Durant will get his shots regardless.

If Draymond step out on the perimeter to try and guard Niko, Davis will eat down in the paint vs Javele and whoever else is down there.

Livingston is always the one to piss me off because even though he doesn't score much, he always score big baskets at the right time vs the Pels.

There’s no right answer to this. To win this were gunna have to show a lot of different looks, and with how fast both teams play there will be a lot of switching.

I would love to have rondo switch on a double team every here and there on KD just bc imma call a spade a spade and say KD is mentally weak. If playoff rondo can get in his head and steph still out, we may have a chance.

i thought the whole point of signing Solomon Hill was to defend Durant/Leonard/etc.?

Hill looked fantastic at times on defense last year. I remember one game vs. the Spurs where he locked up Kawhi about as good as anyone can in single coverage. But he's looked like a guy that hasn't played all year in the playoffs so far. Especially on offense in a system built around everyone moving a lot and being in the right place at the right time.

Don't change up the lineup to match up defensively. Golden State is going to put up points regardless. We aren't the Spurs and we aren't holding them to 90 points. Rondo/Solo lineups mess with our offense too much.

I start from the premise that KD will eat. He destroys Lebron, Kawhi, PG-13, and others. Solo at less than 100% is sure as hell not going to disrupt KD's offense more than it will disrupt ours. KD crushed us last game with 41 points on great percentages, but we won. You gameplan to shut everyone else down as much as possible and win the turnover battle.

The Warriors are averaging ~15 turnovers per game in the San Antonio series. They had 17 turnovers against us when we beat them at home. Draymond almost had more turnovers himself (7) than our entire team (8). When they go small, I think the gameplan should be to get Draymond and KD to initiate and force them to make the right pass. Attack them relentlessly inside with AD/Jrue on the PNR and Niko cuts to the basket until Draymond or KD start picking up fouls.

They don't have a big who can bother AD and Jrue at the rim (our offensive kryptonite). Draymond had 5 fouls last game and the Warriors accumulated 0 blocks. They shot over 45% from 3 and outrebounded us, but we had 15 steals and twice as many FTA.

I wouldnt quite word it like that, but Solomon will be guarding Durant plenty next series. Now whether Solo starts or not is up in the air, but its ridiculous to think it’s the end of the world if he starts vs coming off the bench considering he still plays 15-20min. Id rather Solo start while Rondo, Jrue, and Davis are doing all the offense instead of him coming off the bench and forcing up shots since Ian and Miller dont bring the same level of offensive dominance.

The whole start vs coming off the bench is an overrated aspect imo. (Considering if you play the same amount of minutes)

There is only one person on the Pelicans who can legitimately have a chance of slowing down KD... and that's AD because of his size and length. He won't totally shut him down, but he is the only one who gives us a chance at keeping him contained and pulling off the upset. They are basically mirrors of each other (both have a 7' wingspan) with AD being an inch or two taller. Anyone else guarding him will absolutely get abused. He is just too tall/fast for even Holiday (our best defender) because of the way KD shoots and how high he gets the ball at the top of his shot. With AD's arm length, it will at least give KD trouble when shooting. Therefore, when KD is on the floor...it should be AD guarding him and that's it. I like our chances after that with Holiday on Thompson and letting Morotic take Draymond. This is all based on Curry still being out. If and when Curry returns...it'll be a whole different ballgame.

Put Diallo on KD and tell him if you leave your feet on defense this whole game you are cut.

how much will AD chasing KD around for 40 minutes zap AD's stamina?

Drastically, and that isn't going to happen. They will throw a variety of defenders and looks at Durant one would imagine. There's no chance they keep AD on Durant exclusively.

A lot of discussion about how the Pelicans will defend GSW. What about our offense? How does GSW slow down the AD/Jrue pain train will playoff Rondo leading the charge?

I don't see Curry playing this upcoming series. That knee injury is worse than they are saying.

Putting AD on KD sounds like a good idea, but from our team D stand point it's a horrible idea. We are best on D playing a type of hybrid zone/man. AD let Aminu sit on the 3 pt line and shoot it last series, while AD concentrates on keeping one foot in the lane and playing help D. It disincentivises driving into the lane with AD hovering in there. Good news is Draymond will play right into that. He is streaky on the 3 ball and like to sit on the 3 pt line.
Playing AD on KD hurts us on the boards, hurt a us on help D, and puts AD in the line of fire for whistle happy refs giving a whiny super star calls.

Call me crazy, but with Curry out, I actually like our chances. KD will get his no matter what, there's pretty much no one on the planet who can stop him once he gets going. But, with Curry out they are not as dominant (don't get me wrong still one of the top 4 teams in the league no doubt.. As great as KD is, Curry is the clear Alpha on GS.

If Playoff Rondo, Jrue, AD, and Mirotic all bring it this series like last series. I like our chances to win in either 6 or 7. Game 1 cant come fast enough.

KD is going to get his, so maybe you put Niko on him and then have Moore/Rondo hedge a bit? He’ll be playing the 4 a ton. I don’t think you can put AD on him due to fouls, boards, and help D issues.
