The Nets had a chance to make a real run with all that depth and KD leading the way. They just blew it all up for James Harden.

They just guaranteed they wont win any titles in the KD era, imo.

Trade everything we got from the Bucks for Beal now.

The only way that happens is if he demands a trade and lists the pelicans as a top suitor, which isn't going to happen

I wonder what that deal would look like...

A swap for Danny Green and a protected first?

The nfl isn’t perfect but their hard cap puts an end to a lot of this. If the nba wants parity which i don’t think they do, then that’s what they should do. I would of loved to see the rockets tell harden to just stay at home for 2 years and don’t bother showing up snd they aren’t trading him.

This means the Cavs are trading Drummond at some point this season. They aren't re signing Allen and Drummond

So it looks like we now have 2 teams ahead of the pels with better assets for potential trades down the line.

The rockets got screwed

Pelicans have to trade for a true point guard who can shoot or this team will never meet expectations

You and I have a different definition of screwed. Oladipo, 4 1sts, 4 swaps, that's a hell of deal. Especially given that Harden is out of shape and everyone knows he wants out.

Oladipo is good but not superstar level good.

It’s also extremely hard to gauge those picks and swaps without seeing how Durant, Kyrie, and Harden gel together, which should be interesting because there is only one ball and three guys who have to have the ball in their hand to thrive.

They're damned if they do, damned if they don't. The only way to fix the Max Player power issue is to actually pay them what they're worth so teams can't afford to stack them. But if you did that you'd gut the NBA player middle class and you'd have teams locked into potentially franchise killing deals if a catastrophic injury occurred.

Max deals are in the 50 mil a year range now.

You want guys getting more than that?

You can't win a championship on your own

I agree with you in general but he’s going from Houston to NY. It’s not like he’s leaving a small market team.

Oladipo is still young, entering his prime; 28 years old

putting up 20/6/4 while still shooting well enough from 3 (36.2%) with volume 7.7 attempts a game.

As far as recouping a young player or talent for a malcontent superstar, than thats worth it

I'm not gonna say it was the wrong deal yet, but I honestly think this is just part one and this was motivated as much by Kyrie as anything.

I think Kyrie has gone off the deep end and the Nets are basically just fed up, probably KD too. And if not yet, it's probably coming because this is about KD forging his own legacy and not in the shadow of a near GOAT Warriors team he latched onto. No one has time for Kyrie's oft-injured mercurial arse.

Dare I say?

Pels got a better trade package for Jrue than Houston got for Harden

Another big gun leaving the Western Conference for the East. I hope it continues in that direction for our sake.
