Great read.

Between this and the Buddy Hield piece they did a while back, I am starting to swing my opinion on The Ringer.

There is no such trade-off with Davis, who checks in at 6-foot-10 and 253 pounds

I've been wondering what he's up to. Have we seen his weight listed anywhere else?

PREACH
quote:

In his first few seasons, Davis has been stuck on teams with one-dimensional scorers who couldn’t stay on the floor. The Pelicans had big names, but they were less than the sum of their parts. The new plan is to surround him with versatile players who can thrive in a system designed to get the most out of his talents. Looming over everything is his possible free agency in 2020, when he can opt out of his contract and enter the market at 27. The Pelicans can’t know who his suitors will be that far in the future, but they can build a team that embraces the direction the league is going and plays more future-oriented basketball. They can hope for the kind of unity the Hawks were able to achieve, and that Davis will be the skeleton key that unlocks the full potential of a five-out offense

The Ringer's been on point with its NBA stuff. Bill Simmons really knows how to bring the journalistic thunder

agree on NBA stuff but the articles are so short...I feels like they all cut off abruptly

I miss zach Lowe and Kirk goldsberry
I know Lowe is on ESPN but that site is such a shitshow with auto play videos and clutter I can't make myself read it

Yeah, but at least they get to the point. Lowe's gotten better about droning on, but Goldsberry is an all time stop reading halfway guy. He's smart but too dense. So sad ESPN locked up Lowe, he's better than their halfass journalistic standards. ESPN.com is the TMZ of sports nowadays.

Simmons said this was a conscious decision. They wanted the site to be more mobile friendly in terms of layout (hence Medium) and content.

They replenished the NBA staff w/ a sharp like Tjarks, but the rest of the site seems inconsequential, right now, compared to the writers/content they had at Grantland.

Weird to see so many over at MTV news
