Gayle Benson said she doesn’t want to change anything with the Saints and the Pelicans. Said Tom had a perfect imprint. Also said she has no choice but to have the teams in New Orleans. Wouldn’t have it any other way.

"I don't want to change a thing, my husband left a phenomenal footprint. I would never sell it"

“It’s disappointing to think that somebody would think I would mess up his legacy, but I guess everybody has their opinion. But I would never sell it, no.”

I kept posting a couple of days ago that Gayle cares about the “legacy”, and she won’t sell or relocate either team. They’re solidly in New Orleans,

I think Gayle probably has almost more of a connection with the Pels considering she was there for the purchase and had a huge hand in the rebranding of the team. She knows how much the Saints mean to the city though so I am not discounting her love for them. There is a solid chance she brings the city another championship.

David Stern's comment's to the advocate bode well for us in that Gayle has always been pretty involved in the big picture of things.

quote:

“I used to tease Tom, that it’s good Gayle is here because his first love is always the Saints,” Stern said. “I don’t want to put words in her mouth, but I feel she always treated the Pelicans as an equal and she was involved in all of those decisions, and it meant a lot for us at the league office to know she had such a strong voice in the organization. Obviously she is now in position to implement it further.”

Personally I welcome our Queen and think she will do great! hail Queen B

She’s a gold digger that plotted and achieved her goal. I hope she loses the team in court.

1) sign a long term lease with the smoothie king center, way past 2024.
2) write a will giving the teams to a prominent New Orleanian willing to take over after her passing
3) fans exhale

That’s a little strong, but she isn’t the saint people thought she was during the litigation. That said, the Pelicans are in good hands.

Even if it's passed on as a "company" after Gayle, they can put directives to keep it in NOLA and make sure the board is stacked with locals.

unless new orleans gets wiped off the face of the earth, NFL isn't gonna move the Saints.
