If you had to assign a number to zion’s PPG for this season what would it be. Bc it opened in my book and I thought it was really high.

14-17

Unless we’re really bad and just start tanking and feeding him the ball every play

yeah I think 15 is a good O/U
he’s not going to get a ton of plays run for him early and he can’t really shoot off the break yet. His points will be clean up, post ups and FTs in year one with the occasional highlight dunk

AD averaged about 13. I think that is a safe number for Zion.

I think Zion will average 18 pts., 8 reb., 4 ast., 1.5 blk., 1.5 stls. this year.

I see him getting around 30 minutes a game, so 20+ per game seems unlikely. The offensive pace will be fast, likely the fastest in the league. Most of his scoring will come from fast breaks, pick n rolls, put-backs. Duke ran only a handful of pick n roll plays for him as the roll man, which is insane. He will get multiple plays as the roll man every game. I see something similar to year 3 Giannis, which is 17/8/4. I wouldn't be shocked at all if he scored less than 15PPG, but his impact will still be high.

Julius Randle is fresh off scoring 21.4 in 30.6 mpg

Minutes will be similar

Zion prob won’t take the same volume of attempts but should be more efficient from the field to make up the difference

Key will be converting from the line. If Zion can flirt with 70% I think he gets there

Bet the under and clean up

If the Pels are anywhere near the playoffs, he’ll most certainly be under 18.5ppg

I would go under. We basically have 4 people (Favors, Redick, Ingram and Zion) replacing two (Davis and Randle). With Holiday, I don't know if the 2nd highest scorer will be over 16ppg.

Btw, I had no idea Redick averaged 18 ppg last season. Is he really going to come off the bench here?

I think 18.5 is a pretty fair O/U. Only 2 rookies averaged +19 and only 4 averaged +16. Scoring 18.5 isn't going to be easy, but Zion has the best chance (of rookies) given the anticipated pace and likelihood he'll do great clean up boards, push people around, and run all for easy points.

I was thinking 19 but that's too close to bet.

Yes, because JJ’s defense sucks.

He gets exposed less against the second unit though he can be brought in late if we need a sharpshooter on the floor.

Yeah, people always talk about who our "finishing five" will be, and I always want to know if we're ahead or behind.

If we're down by 3 with a minute left in the game, then I definitely want JJ in the game. If we're up by three, then I definitely don't.

64% in college.

Close to liability in final minutes.

Hes got things to learn.
Jumper off the dribble.
Three with arc on it and quick release.
Ft form.

Hes got a ways to go.

His upside is stupendous.

They should give me his car keys and let me teach him for a month.

His floor is dennis rodman. All star.
All nba d.
Double digit rebounds.
Rodman led league so not that many boards but a better shooter

That should all show up the first month.

If someone forces him to remake his ft and 3 pt and teaches him jumper he will be all time.

Hopefully hes not content to be Rodman. Olympics are coming. Maybe he is forced to practice shooting or not be picked.
As if.

That’s not really fair to pussies TBH. My wife’s takes a serious pounding near daily and always rebounds the next day like nothing happened.

A pussy would win a fight with AD ten times out of ten.

A lot will depend on whether we intend to re-sign Ingram or trade him. If trading him, I’d expect his ppg to be significantly higher than if he is seen as a core piece for the future.
