"It's risky for a subset of the world's No. 1 sneaker company to give $75 million over seven years to a rookie who hasn't taken his first NBA dribble, who is injury prone, and who already is looking only slightly less fragile than tissue paper, and who is projected to weigh more than anybody in the league not named Boban"

"Even so, here's all Zion has to do to with the Pelicans to make the Jordan Brand folks look brilliant with this deal:

Keep dunking between trips to the injured list"

wtf

It's so comical. A guy who went on a media tour and the rewards circuit for months and did zero draft prep because he didn't have to do any shows up at summer league a bit out of shape. Therefore, he is a fat slob doomed to an injury-ravaged career.

I’m guessing Forbes Op-Ed section?

If so, it’s worth keeping in mind the criteria to get in is only slightly higher than with a hooker on Tulane Avenue at 3am.

Injury prone? What a tool.

When did Zion become injury prone?

His two injuries are because of:
1) equipment malfunction
2) knee-to-knee contact

And the severity of the second injury was likely exaggerated to keep him out of summer league. Going to need more datapoints before he can be called injury prone.

Maybe I’m missing something from HS, but I’m not seeing concrete evidence to support that claim.

This is the same media that said Zion shouldn’t have played another college game after his shoe blowout, but now when we “take their advice” and are overly cautious in meaningless summer league games, they want to bitch and label him injury prone.

If Zion had gone to Adidas and made an ad that referenced the Nike blowout - it would have been very bad for Nike.

Nike had no choice.

And I am convinced this really wasn't even a thing. I noticed in the game that the Knicks players were really going at Zion and really playing as physical as possible. I think Griff and the boys decided it wasn't worth playing him in meaningless summer league games. I specially remember the alley attempt to Zion and it felt as if he almost was undercut on the attempt. I kept saying that Knicks players are going to injury him before this game is over.

Griffin's basically said as much multiple times.

It was an overabundance of caution coupled with the conditioning.

Had it been a real game, Zion's not missing the rest of that game.

This dude is from Atlanta and wrote a shite piece about Mike Thomas last year. The butthurt is strong.

Personally, I'm soaking in every ounce of the ATLs jealousy.

Thirsty bitches.

So some slapstick from Forbes understands ROI on a shoe deal better than the biggest sneaker company ever

“Injury prone” - that injury at duke might have snapped an ankle or ripped up a knee but Zion busted open a shoe.
