A couple of questions, and will say in advance, I appreciate any non-angry response:

1. Is it for sure, in your opinion, we forgo the Laker's pick this year and take it next ?

I personally, am in the school that says this is the way to go, but would appreciate greater insight that you offer.

2. Who would you take with the later pick ?

I am becoming more and more convinced that Duke's Filipowski might work. If we keep Zion, he is a stretch five, high post (old UCLA) five, with greatly underrated driving skills. His footwork, stature, and lack of toughness are a concern.

Not a huge fan of Missi (spelling?) and, though I am Canadian, Zack Edey...would prefer Holmes, but could probably getting him by trading down.

Thoughts ?

Again ... thanks in advance and be in the moment tonight fans.

I think so. Most people consider this a bad draft, and the Lakers were the 9 seed with Lebron and Davis playing 76 and 71 games. On top of that, in the Playin game Lebron did what he always does against Zion, tries to match him and show him up. Except he missed every single time he tried that game. I've never seen that before. He is finally looking like the wheels are starting to fall off.

I know they'll try to make a big trade, but it's unlikely they get over 70 games out of both next year, so will they even make the Playin?

Absolutely defer the pick, a historically bad draft. You bank on the outlier of ad and lebron health, a more competitive west, and a possibility of his bronny coming into the league to hope for a lotto pick.

This is actually a draft where you go for a raw big man, you have 2 young guards to try to develop. You have a few wings already. You gotta really just find that big man. .

The draft if hard to pin down. As our roster stands, you would think we’ll pick a C like Filipowski or Holmes, but I’d be surprised we don’t trade for our starting C next year. What we give up in that trade may influence what we draft.

Here’s my thought

The draft should go in reverse order

Lowest first.

Think about it

If Collier falls I would love him. Had a rough year at USC but that whole team sucked. He was a top 3 recruit and project be a dynamic guard. I’d take a shot at him for sure. Would also like Filipowski. I also like Tyler Smith, G League guy, 6’10 and can shoot it. Could be a nice stretch 4 and maybe even small ball 5

I don’t watch as much college ball as I used to, but Edey looks like legit NBA
material.

Hes a bigger, less mobile version of JV. Willie would never go for him.

FTR -

Laker pick would be 18, we pick at 21 because the Bucks’ pick swap allows us to jump one spot.

Defer the Laker pick because we likely get better than 18 in a bad draft if we do so.

21 likely gets us Ke’el Ware (C - Indiana) from several mocks. Considering we need a big long term and he can shoot from outside, at least relative to other centers, he seems like a decent fit.

Draft order is locked down and we have decisions to make regardless of what happens against the Thunder.

I would take the pick. That would give us #18 and #21 (after the swap with Bucks). We have to move either Ingram or Murphy this summer. I'd package one of those guys, the 2 1sts and Daniels for the 1st pick of the draft. I'd draft Sarr, who is a perfect fit next to Zion, especially in a few years.

I think the Pistons (if they won the lottery) would go for the deal. They have good front court depth, but need wings. They have the cap space to absorb and extend Ingram without sending us any salary back.

We can resign Val, to mentor Sarr a couple of years, and Marhsall. Then extend Alvarado. I think we would have some space to add a couple of people..

This is a horrible draft to do this. No one is trying that hard to get Sarr or the number one pick. If anything I would try this strategy for next years draft. In other deeper drafts im not sure Sarr would be a top 3 guy.

I thought Edey moved pretty well in the tournament.

There are going to be good pros that come from this draft. Sarr is highly touted and has a high ceiling. We wouldn't need him to make a large impact early. It would probably take him time before he can contribute. That's why we could get him and develop him behind Val.

I want a big return from dealing Ingram (or Murphy). This would be a big splash and would generate a ton of buzz. We have the assets and have to pull the trigger on something like this, this summer. It's a big move and I'm expecting something like this to happen..
