re: A Small Thank You

You may be the only Canadian Pels fan in the history of forever
Thanks SuperSaint.
Not sure if the trade for Olynik brought any more Canadians on board, but I haven't been a fan all that long, Became a fan when they traded Anthony Davis. At the time, I was a Lakers fan, and did not appreciate Rob Pelinka's decision making. I am a HUGE believer in building with youth and draft picks, so thought the Pelicans got the better of the deal.
I have stated on previous posts, and sorry to be such a fair weather fan, but if they don't trade Zion (at least) I won't continue my patronage.
Hope you are having a great day.,
A Small Thank You

Happy Saturday, folks.
Kind of a cold day for late April here in South Western, Ontario.
I just wanted to extend a small thank you. I often posts 'Opinion Requests."
I find I learn a great deal from your comments...for those who responded - especially to my latest one re trading Zion and CJ - thank you. Your collective analysis and the time you spent is appreciated - again, I learn a great deal from you all.

Trade Value - Opinion Request (3)
Posted by Purpose16 on 4/18/25 at 3:52 pm
Blessed Good Friday, friends !
The day has turned out sunny here in South Western Ontario (Canada).
Can I solicit your opinions on three potential roster moves or trades, and please include your opinion or debate mine.
The central premise of my post is that a rebuild is in order. If you were able to research my history of posts, I said last off-season, that I was willing to stick with a Zion-led team for one more year...alas, that has not worked. I am not in the least interested in retaining him.
But a total rebuild is unlikely to happen via just trading him....my question / opinion request in this post is: What do we do with McCollum, Olinyk, and Bruce Brown ?
+ Would encourage trading CJ if we could get at least two 2nds/maybe a late first.
+ I know it is sacriledge as a Canadian to pan Kelly, but he is average at best and I don't see a long-term fit. Maybe trade him now or at next year's trading deadline. What do you think we can get for him.
+ Totally have no clue what a Bruce Brown trade would net. I believe his contract us up, so do we let him walk, or is there any sign and trade value.
Like Olinyk, would prefer to go younger.
Again, thanks for your opinions, God Bless you all, and Blessed Good Friday.

Opinion Request - Zion to OKC
Posted by Purpose16 on 3/5/25 at 4:43 pm
Hi folks,
Did anyone else read, I believe it was either Sporting News or SI, proposed trade of Zion to OKC for a 1st, last year's first Topic, Wiggins, and Kenrich.
What do you think ? I would prefer they add a little, like a couple of 2nds or Cason Wallace, but I know OKC was really high on Topic last year...that's why they were willing to wait out his injury. It, in effect, becomes two 1sts...
I am not particularly sold on Williams,
Sorry, forgot to add that JRE would also be included. Would rather him than Kenrich...but that's just my opinion.
Please share opinions.... Blessed Lent.

Thanks Tigerin ... I would actually be okay with that.
As I have written elsewhere, I am surprised there is a market for Javonte, but if we can exit his contract for a 2nd round, and slip under the cap, I am all for it.
I would think - and please correct me if I am wrong - that a contending team could use CJ. At this point, I would surrender him for a couple of seconds, hopefully a little more,
Do you think I am being optomistic ?
Have a great day, TigerIn.

If the Pelicans front office doesn't make any moves, I will loose it.
I am not one to criticize, nor do I over emphasis trades... but we have assets that others want in BI, CJ, and Green, and need to get SOMETHING back in return ... if for no other reason than to start the rebuilding program.
I live just west of Toronto, and was a Raps fan for a while (actually going to their G-League game Friday night)....don't really see the fit for them in Ingram, and agree that bringing RJ in doesn't help...could be wrong, though.
Also, do not really see us re-signing Brandon.
In a perfect world, I would part with Ingram, Green and CJ now if we can attain reasonable value, and FatAss over the summer if he regains market power/tradability....but agree, thats 'in a perfect world.'
Have a great day, everybody !

re: Atlanta interest in Brandon

Can’t, NBA rules do not allow for it
Thanks SoggyMoss .... I vaguely recalled the rule after you mentioned it. Appreciate the correction.

Atlanta interest in Brandon

ESPN is saying Atlanta has some interest in Brandon.
Opinion request please: What can we get from them / who are we interested in ? Would love to have Dyson back, but I know he has been critical of the organization.
Would love to see two of our first round picks returned, plus maybe another young player ? Might have to take Larry Nance back.
Thanks all ... hope your Saturday is a good one.

Trade is a Must
Posted by Purpose16 on 1/31/25 at 2:01 pm
I cannot see this roster - nor the future - achieving much as currently formatted.
I became a Pels fan after the Davis trade. I was excited about the potential of the draft picks. As I have written in this space before, I tend to overemphasise the future ability of young players and draft picks.
If that thesis is truth, then it is paramount we convert someone - anyone at this point - into long term assets such as draft picks and young players ... and start over.
If we do nothing, I just can't see a path forward for this team.
Totallly open to trading McCollum, FatAss, Brandon, even Trigger Trey, Javonte (delightfully surprised there is a market for him) ... can live with taking back short term salary as long as we get picks and young talent in return.
Doing Nothing is NOT an option.
Have a great day everybody !

Javonte Green Interest
Posted by Purpose16 on 1/26/25 at 6:13 am
Good morning, all.
Read a quick story that kind of surprised me...it said Knicks and others had some interest in Javonte Green. Given that he was, and I don't mean to be disrespectful here, something of a reclamation project and only came off the bench, I didn't think there would be much interest.
Any insight into what he may fetch in the trade market ? If we could get one or two second round picks, I wouldn't hesitate.
As always, appreciate your thoughts an opinions.

Thank Supe,
Appreciate the analysis. agree moving BI is imperative, but do you think someone will pay draft capital for him ?
I think a team like Golden State might be a fit, but I don't believe they have enough draft picks. I got to believe they are ready to move on from Wiggins.
I know they won't move TJD, and the other young player I like is Pods. I know they aren't sold on Moody, but we have enough shooting guards / wings.

Trade Deadline Approaching
Posted by Purpose16 on 1/16/25 at 12:18 pm
Hope you all are staying warm, folks. (I am Canadian, so its a little cold and snowy right now),
Getting really frustrated at the lack of movement as trade deadline approaches. It is my belief that the roster must be blown up.
Has anyone come across any youth or draft pick oriented trades they think might help us in the long-term. I am of the view we need one or more trades, albeit at a lesser value, like the trades where we received draft capital and / or younger players from the Lakers and Bucks.
Have a great day, all....appreciate any input you care to share.

Given that Kuminga is hurt, and Draymond is showing his age. They are always in 'win now' mode, and not afraid to go over the cap.
Other than Pod, and maybe Trace Jackson Davis, there are no other young assets on that roster I would be interested in.
Would GSW give us Pod and two firsts - or am I being too optomistic ?
Appreciate all your thoughtfulness.
