We draft Sharpe.

I think the team is good enough to scratch a lottery ticket (pun intended) with this pick.

I’d take approximately 25 other prospects over Dieng. I’d be really disappointed if he’s the pick.

I'd only be disappointed if it came out that this was a unilateral move by Griff. We saw the pictures from the Sochan lunch, Griff, Trajan, Bryson Graham, and Willie were there. If you get them all to agree that Dieng is the guy to take I'll give them time to make it work.

If Dieng and Sochan are both still on the board, see if Washington will flip spots by trading KCP for Graham, provided they get Sharpe.

Then pick whichever is left, or the one we like most, at 10.

This is my preferred route.

If not, draft Daniels or Sochan at 8 and be done with it. I would be pretty annoyed if they traded down past like 12.

My thought is that Dieng is the guy IF a few key targets are off the board and we trade down.

Pretty much Mathurin, Daniels, and Ivey all have to be off the board and we move back to 10 or 12, which involves getting a few more assets and/or turning Graham into someone more useful like KCP.

I’ll give it time. I’d just be disappointed. I’m just in favor of a guy that can help now, as well as later.

Like, are we really sure Dieng has a higher upside than say Sochan?

If Dyson isn’t there at 8 and we aren’t taking Sharpe bc we are worried about his intangibles and him not playing in college…

At least get me a guy who is elite defensively. What happens if Herb Jones gets injured? I think having multiple elite defenders on the team is a good idea.

I just don’t see Dieng contributing anything year 1. I would like to draft a guy that can actually help/contribute in a pinch, plus have developmental upside.

So I won’t melt tonight, bc the org has def earned some goodwill and trust going into the offseason, but I’ll be disappointed if pick 8 is used on Dieng while Sharpe and Sochan are on the board. Now if we trade back to 12, and get off Graham, pick up Dort, and then draft Dieng. I can get behind that more.

If the Pels love Dieng that much and the other guys are off the board, they aren’t going to risk losing Dieng by trading back.

At least I’d highly doubt it

You are probably right. But I see this as hedging bets in case he doesn’t pan out immediately.

By that, I mean a lower salary slotting.

Hasheem Thabeet MIGHT have been a decent player eventually. Not on 2nd overall money.

Got to factor in if they believe in KCP/Dort also. Duren, Sochan, or Davis + KCP/Dort is better than just getting only Dieng. Even more of a plus if we can attach Graham to it.

Based on rumors from their local news.

9. Sochan (Spurs)
10. Davis (Wizards)
11. Griffin (Knicks)

Have to factor in that those are simply rumors are speculation and that they may not even be options for Pels.

I hope we trade for an established guy that can immediately make an impact (a scorer for the 2nd unit) instead of a 20 year old project. But I doubt it happens. If we do draft a 20 year old project, hopefully Sharpe falls to us and we get the biggest project with the highest ceiling. But I doubt that happens. We're finally in a position to be able to stash a guy and let him develop.

One of the local NOLA TV stations was saying looks like Daniel's on the noon broadcast. Don't know if it was speculation, guessing or info.

I think Daniels is the teams' first choice of the guys possibly being there at 8. But whether he's available at 8 is in question. I saw someone posting betting odds earlier of a >70% chance the Pels take Daniels if he's there, but only a 30%-40% chance that he's there.

Well the one thing we know for sure is he can’t know that because Daniels more likely than not will be picked before we even pick… he might have some inside info about the pelicans liking Daniels

Yea I'm convincing myself to be okay with Sharpe if that is the pick. I'll assume the front office did their research and won't let him disrupt the good mojo going in the locker room.
Has nothing to do with his talent or ceiling. Kentucky guards' track record speaks for itself.

He could use some training on doing interviews & speaking to the media. And CJ & BI would humble him real quick.

Would rather Sochan or Daniels fit with this team, but will accept if it's Sharpe

Everyone knows we like Daniels, just like everyone knew we liked Trey last year.

Its just a matter of him being there.

I want to stay at 8, then pick either Duren or Davis.

I don't think that will happen. But that's what I want..

So we're trading out of the 8th pick and losing Jax just to get out of the DG contract? That would be an awful deal for us

i didn't say i was a big fan of it. it was a wild prediction based on zero rumors since we typically make a move that no one saw coming.

And Kennard and a future 1st is fair value for DG/Jax and moving down 6 spots.
If Jerami Grant in his last year is worth a future first, then Jax is worth next to nothing.
