Nike pays Zion more than the Pelicans and has a longer guaranteed contract. His value in a place like NY could possibly double or triple. His endorsers have a role in pushing him away. I understand why he wants to move. He can go from 20ish a year to 50+ in the right place. That is not counting BB income.

The kid is a media darling and will never maximize that here. That is just a harsh reality. Of I were him, I'd want to leave. But how to you get that done without being the bad guy?

even if he does, you get the richest trade return in maybe the history of the NBA.

Not if he signs to Klutch. Apparently that’s how you get out of NO for free. We won’t even want him anymore, right?

I mean let’s be honest … the earning potential the guy has with sponsorships is astronomical if he stays on his current projection. He’d make a whole lot of it back if he walked and went to a big market.

Nope, but we've seen this song and dance twice already, Zion will progress into a superstar, we'll win a playoff series and then after that everything will crash and burn because we can't sustain success with no one wanting to come here and then we will trade Zion in the offseason before his option year.

Lather, rinse, repeat.

Zion would have still have all NBA IMO without missing the last few weeks of the season.

Let’s also think this through.

He’d also make far more by simply staying here, signing the much larger rookie extension contract, and still making 80% of what he would make in endorsements vs a bigger market and having to play on the qualifying offer.

I’m not gonna rule out that Zion would take the qualifying offer and risk it. Or try and force his way out. But he would be having to leave quite a lot of money on the table on the whole.

Unpopular opinion: Zion's game does not translate to playoff success and if we think he's being killed in the paint now wait until the whistles completely stop

Did you not watch the championship series with Giannis?

If we win all this bullshite talk will stop. I cannot wait till we start doing just that. Zion can make big money here if we win.

For Rose rule purposes, is Zion not considered an All Star game starter already?

He has already been quoted as saying he does not like the rigors of the offseason with having to keep up with all the endorsement deals, so it's likely he will start dropping some rather than trying to add more.

Also, he has apparently been hanging out with Lavine, Pels have cap space next offseason when he's a FA, maybe doing a little recruiting?
