do you think Ingram is worth a max deal, completely limiting our ability to rebuild?

because that's the dilemma we will face this offseason

Simmons will never be anything more than a bigger version of a hall of fame player. Thanks, no way I would want that guy on our team now

non 3 point shooting jason kidd would be an entirely different player in a league where 3 pointers and zone defense are possible. just saying.

ben simmons is good. ingram still has a chance to be as good or better.

also, guess what? philly aint trading simmons.

i think you'll have to give him a season or two to prove it or trade him too. but i think it's totally possible that ingram could be proven to be worth his version of a max deal for his experience slot - which is MUCH less than a max deal like Walls. i'd pay ingram.

and i think it's next offseason.

Simmons is better now than Kidd ever was

I don’t hate Ingram like others but if we traded for him and he didn’t show marked improvement next year, it would be a complete waste with his looming free agency

I think Ball is a nice piece but he doesn’t want to play here.

IF Lonzo Ball didn’t have his idiot dad attached to him and was going to come in and work his arse off AND

IF Kyle Kuzma didn’t have a scary as hell hip issue AND

IF Lebron James and Rich Paul hadn’t of dragged the pels organization through the mud to try to strong arm us into getting their way

THEN I could see a world where the Lakers package actually makes some sense.

I personally don’t think Tatum is being overrated. Watching that guy as a rookie in the playoffs last year put the world on notice that he’s going to at least be a damn good player.

I kind of liken the trading card market to a players stock market of sorts. There’s all sorts of variables, but in general it shows what the general public thinks of that year’s rookie class. Jayson Tatum was the main reason $3000 initial retail price cases of National Treasures (the premiere product for rookie cards) were costing breakers $7000. His rookie patch auto cards were selling for $7000-10000 for the higher numbered versions and the lower numbered ones were like 25k+. They’ve dropped some since then but check eBay for the prices they’ve been selling at. Still absurd. Point being, this isn’t just Pelicans Talk willing to bet on Jayson Tatum. People are putting LOTS of money where their mouth is when it comes to this guy.

my post already addressed this. we have to make that decision this offseason

i imagine if we don't offer it up, he'll just pull an AD and say he won't re-sign and we get even less

That’s right. Simmons is a horribly inefficient scorer and can’t create any offense since he doesn’t shoot 3’s. Definitely don’t want that guy. It’s a good thing Philly isn’t willing to move him, but the Lakers are willing to package the better player with several other young stars. That’s really kind of them to help us out like that.

i don't think Simmons has much upside left. His body is filled out. i also think he seems to be a prima donna more interested in being famous than winning a title. i also think he's glorybound for NYC or the Lakers as well being a Klutch sports client.

Ingram has room for improvement if you look at him. It might be hard for some of you to imagine, but there are people who grow into their bodies.

Brandon Ingram

On paper, looks good.

But
1. PER of 12.8
2. Negative real BPM
3. Negative VORP
4. Worse ORTG when he's on the court
5. Worse DRTG when he's on the court

Iono, sounds like empty stats to me.

i think Ingram is potentially a max player. i would love to see him for half a season and see what he can do running a team. this doesn't scare me as much as you.

Ingram has been unfairly compared to Durant. He’s a good piece, but I haven’t seen enough from him to give him the max it will take to keep him here.

LE i love Simmons. i think Ingram can be as good. I just think that Simmons won't improve that much for where he is right now which is an all star level player.

He’s 21 therefore he will no doubt get better somehow maybe.

That’s your argument?

K. I’ll pass.

Simmons is 22. At 21 Simmons put up 16/8/8 with a 20 PER, 9 win shares and a 4.6 VORP with a 111 ORTG and a 102 DRTG.

You can’t just say “he’s young”
