re: David Griffin says off-season more about tweaks than big moves

The idea that being #1 in the West for a minute means the roster just needs tweaks to compete is ridiculous. There are structural problems with this team’s roster. Tweaks aren’t going to let us contend.

is that inaccurate though?
Its certainly not the only problem but it is the biggest reason why this season tanked.
Yeah we are a top-4 seed in the West with a healthy squad. That doesn't mean we're a title-winning roster construction or that we can't improve with smart moves, but injuries were 100% the variable that derailed us.

I'd like to see them tell Nelson to frick off.
Yeah I'm getting Moffit vibes from Nelson. Was a pioneer in the past but isn't innovative anymore.

With a healthy CJ, Zion, and BI, with Herb not in a funk and Trey being the midrange version of himself, we only need tweaks, really.
The biggest structural issues are:
1. Lack of a modern center, which isn't going to be fixable most likely.
2. Inability to run a real offense with BI/Zion/CJ. Now, they should have enough juice to make it work, but we'll never have an offense based on movement with those 3.

you will begin to see your issues, so you can come to grips with your reality.

Told y’all. Willie anf Grif are stubborn. Nothing will change. It will all be blamed on injuries.
There can be big changes without a ton of roster moves. Fixing how we run our offense would be more beneficial than adding shooters. Adding shooters doesnt mean much if you cant design an offense that takes 3s.

How about some big moves with the medical/training staff?
Seems like this org is always hamstrung by ridiculous injuries/recovery times.

I want to know the PT requirements he alluded too.
If its something like the Miami Heat Culture, were gonna hear some of these dudes crying by September.

It also doesn't mean much if you won't play the newly acquired shooters because you think the best way to cover up the defensive hole in the middle is to play more defensive wings. Remember it wasn't until March that Trey got to a point where Willie didn't stop benching him for better defenders.
I am philosophically opposed to overpaying for a lateral move for JV, but it might be the only way to move forward with Willie as coach. Swapping JV for Turner would cost at least 2 1sts and hurt the rebounding, but it would add another 3 point outlet to the court and maybe would let Willie play another shooter that wasn't the best defender. This team needed more balance and that might be how you get there.

Turner signed a 2 year 60 million extension during the season. Who thought the Pels were getting him?

JV one of Kira and Dyson and a couple picks
Look at his contract and you see his amount is 19 and 20m for the next two seasons.
But go on King

But go on King
JV/Dyson/multiple picks is a shite ton different than JV and 1 pick, no?

heres the actual post

You are trading JV, the 2023 Pick, and either Kira or Dyson for Nic Claxton or Myles Turner. It may require more picks than just one.
You are then praying for Health. (Maybe sign Naz Reid)
Myles
Zion
Trey
BI
Herb
CJ
Jose
Kira or Dyson
Larry
EJ or (Naz Reid)
EJ (if Naz Reid is on the team)
Willy (If no Naz Reid)
Naji
Seabron (2 Way)

I never said that.
I never said you did, why are you getting so defensive?
Look at the thread you posted, look at the very 1st reply, there ya go.
Look at other posters who thought it was absolutely wild to suggest JV and 2 1sts because they thought that was wayyyy too much.
So yea, if you didn't say what I pointed out, then it's not about you, it's about the people who said...or exactly what I said initially

There are posts in that thread, I'm correct here. So now you gotta enjoy your L unfortunately, sorry about that.

For Myles Turner? Your're out of your damn mind.
You realize I can read that thread too, right?
You're giving off strong "I'm the main character" vibes right now. If you didn't say what I mentioned, this ain't about you, it's not that difficult lol
I have no clue what you're even arguing right now. It seems you thought I was talking about you, and now you realize I wasn't but you just can't stand the idea of conceding you were wrong, when we know you were
