re: David Griffin loves Brandon Ingram; 'several' within Pelicans loved Lakers' original offer

First of all, that was sort of a joke.
Second, no. Nothing will make me believe it until he's played about 10 more years. It is a serious situation, and the dude from what I've read is still having trouble lifting his arm above his head.
I don't give a shite about spin from the Lakers saying 'Its a structural issue'.
If we make a deal with the Lakers and he's involved, all we can do is hope for the best and hope Nelson vetted the situation thoroughly.

LE, this one of them "it's true cause i agree with message" cases?

I really like Brandon Ingram. The injury is kind of scary and you also will have a decision to make on whether to pay him though.
Posted on 6/4/19 at 1:23 pm to Fun Bunch
Yeah, I agree
It’s not that I think he has a chronic/major medical issue
It’s not that we have to pay him next year
It’s having to pay him right away not knowing for sure about his medical issue

well you are already halfway making that decision if you decide to trade for him.

If Ingram stays healthy though I’m expecting him to take that next step this year. His offensive game is legit.

It wasn’t the Lakers, it was his agent.

right
if you trade davis for him you are paying him.
either that or you are doing a sign/trade which at that salary level is nearly impossible

Definitely more unbiased

McMenamin was on the LeBron beat in Cleveland and wrote a book about it with Windhorst.
I would be willing to bet a hefty sum he has a relationship with Griffin and that Griffin is a, if not the, source.
Does that mean this story isn't designed to manipulate bidders? Of course not. But the Pelicans have a guy on good terms with many prominent national writers. This ain't the Silent Dell era

Eric Gordon also wanted no part of this team and city. That’s what you also have to worry about for Ingram. Their fan base consisting of egotistical celebs and hypebeast nephews inflate the egos of all these players good or bad. If he comes here it’s gonna be a complete culture change for him. How’s he gonna take it? You gotta worry about that.

Oh I will definitely talk myself into it if we trade for him. I don’t hate the guy or his game or anything.
Just makes me nervous

Can't shoot, frail, has a potential career-threatening issue, doesn't move the ball well, inefficient, and is going to get overpaid.
If this is anything but smoke and mirrors I am going back to my position of questioning Griffin's talent evaluation.

What’s the motive there other than supplying news on his client?

I’m on mobile at work the next few hours so I can’t really look into it. Easy steps for you if you want to.
1) understand context
2) determine motive

Where are the fits though?
Kuzma plays where? He’s not starting over Zion. Doesn’t strike me as a guy that’ll play 6th man here. He’s also around what I think his ceiling will be. Ingram is not a great fit either, provides very little spacing. The injury problems with he and Lonzo are huge red flags
If the players in the deal are Ingram, Ball, Kuzma, and Hart, I see Kuzma being the most likely player that is sent to a 3rd team, rather than Ball.

Ball can be traded to Chicago or the Suns for a first. LA needs to include Wagner to make the deal. This would allow Pels to draft Garland and Reddish or Culver or Hayes with the Ball trade.
Garland and Ingram give the team needed outside shooting. If Culver or Reddish is selected it provides the Pels with an opportunity to trade Jrue around the AS break.
Imagine a future starting lineup of:
Garland
Reddish
Ingram
Zion
Wagner

That lineup will get eaten alive

Great, we will have a bunch of 19-22 year old players at once.
Instead of the Jailblazers we would have the Jailbirds.
