Lonzo is really a PG playing SG right now bc of Jrue.

If you pair a SG with Lonzo that can create their own shot that would be interesting to see.

Lonzo’s a weird dude. He’ll talk shite to people blasting his play on twitter and then spend all off season making music videos.

“I feel like I let the team down,” Ball said. “I know I’m a big part of it. Usually, when I play well, we win and, obviously, I didn’t play well this trip. We’re going home early and I have to live with that.”

Yea he's a real big shite talker

I don't see a 2021 Phoenix first with some protections on it and Rubio as being too much for Ball. Hell i don't think Griff would even like that, and would want more.

I'd make that trade.

I know I'm in the minority but I'm afraid of maxing out Ingram. Yes, he's talented but I just don't know that his game is conducive to winning. He's too one dimensional.

I understand you have to do it, because of his potential to be KD light, but I'm not sure he'll get there.

He was a very good defender for his age and size prior to coming to the Pelicans. Needs better coaching in that area but he has potential to be solid on both ends.

Idk how you can say he's one dimensional at all. He can shoot the 3, drive and has a little bit of a midrange game. He's shown flashes as a passer, but we don't need him to be a great passer to be great for us.

Who are some points we can actually go get? VanVleet? Devonte' Graham? Kris Dunn? Are these guys we'd want? Do they fit? I know VanVleet would...

True but he is probably the greatest mystery ever to Body Language experts.

Does he care?

Does he had Basketball?

Is he bored while Dunking?

Does Boardman get paid?

So what? Even if he's more Melo than KD, he'll have trade value if he doesn't fit with Zion. But he seems to be humble with a great attitude, so I think they'll find a way to make it work. BI/Zion P&Rs should be deadly, especially if you can surround them with 3 legit shooters.

If we do trade Jrue, Lonzo or anyone of some value can we please get some guys(whether if it’s through the draft, through free agency, or through these trades) with some damn vocal leadership? You don’t play great defense as a team not talking or communicating.

The guy is likely going to win Most Improved Player this year. It would be foolish in the extreme to assume that he won't improve even more in the future. Yes, he needs to learn to play better defense. He needs to get stronger if we are going to play him at times at PF. But he's going to get there.

BI and Zion are now the foundational pieces of the team. Everyone else is expendable for the right price. A lot also depends on the new coach and the system that he wants to run.

People debate whether you get the players you want and then find a coach who fits with them, or whether the other way around. I am firmly on the side of get the coach first.

I’ve been thinking about Lonzo a lot lately trying to decide where I stand on him. I think I settled at even at his best I want more from my PG.

Even at his best he’s one of the worst PnR and iso guards in the league. He can’t finish at the rim, has nothing in between the rim and the 3pt line, and even something like his passing, which I don’t want to discredit, comes with caveats.

He doesn’t set up his teammates in the same way a guy like Chris Paul does. How often do you see him get into the lane and draw help defenders and dump it off to a big man, or dish it out to shooters. I would say his 7 assists are less effective than say De’Aaron Fox’s 7 assists. If that makes sense.

I think Zion will transition into this role. He’s shown flashes of it this year as a 19 year old

makes perfect sense. I agree with everything you said, and you didn't even mention defense.

Some people only see the 37% free throw shooting and 1 or 2 deep passes he makes a game to Zion.

CP3 is in the conversation for best passing PG of all time so that's a bit unfair lol

This does happen, the problem is favors appears to NEVER expect to get the dump off pass so he fumbles it like 70% of the time.

those constant deep passes where most of them are contested are gonna get Zion hurt one day. I cringe every time it happens

Yea you’re hoping for a better Mario Chalmers in the long run. He’s going to need an elite 3 level offensive 2 guard to make it work if they intend to keep him through his second contract. There’s no way around it. Zo’s scoring impact starts and ends with his 3 point shot. It’s where he’s most comfortable.

Honestly.....Chris Paul could be an option if we are looking to shake the roster up. He would be infinitely better than what we have with Lonzo.

We would have to probably do a multiple team trade where we send Jrue somewhere like the Heat, but we could potentially have a core of Zion, Brandon Ingram, and Chris Paul for the next couple years until Zion’s contract comes up.

Plus you wouldn’t have to worry about paying and extending Lonzo. Just pull the bandaid off now. You already have several young players that are trying to develop, and I’m not sure Lonzo ever takes that step.

Thunder would easily take that salary dump for Lonzo, picks, and filler....trade Jrue to the Heat for Olynik’s player option....ask for Herro, and they say no...ask for any combo or Duncan Robinson, Kendric Nunn, or sign & trade for Crowder and picks. Just surround your core with shooters & long defenders.
