Long distance shooter. Trade fat blob for Dame? Is this what CJ wants?

Sure let's add a 4th max player...it's not like we will ever have to resign our young, underpaid core...

Dame would be perfect for us but I very very very much doubt the Blazers would be interested in getting CJ/Dyson for him without an absolute haul of picks.

And I think WG and company are too obsessed to trade CJ at the moment

They couldn’t win up north. What’s changed besides age

Dame

alot like BI...

GREAT player, just not someone who can carry a team by himself... needs a complimentary star player, along with good role players, in order to achieve success at a team level... will get you stats, but not necessarily wins

They never had someone like BI on those teams. CJ was always that 2nd guy, and he needs to be the 3rd guy.

I'd send Zion's fat arse out in a second for Lillard.
I love JV, but we'd have to find a 5 that could be an anchor defensively. Could care less about his offense. If Herb was big enough to be a 5 like Draymond, then it would definitely work, and if Trey and BI can play big enough then a lineup of Dame/CJ/BI/Herb/Trey would be extremely difficult to handle.

And this is why Zion cannot be traded this year.

Portland would have to send me Sharpe and every pick they have along with Dame for me to consider trading 23 year old Zion that showed he can be the best player in the league for 33 year old Dame that’s showing a very sharp and quick decline.

You’re trying to sell for pennies on the dollar, and you would be further away from a championship than you are right now.

When exactly did Dame show a sharp decline ne this year? He was ver good this season. The only season he even remotely struggled in was due to an abdominal injury that he got surgery on last season.

I was thinking the same thing.

He averaged a career high in points this year (32.2), 2nd best assists year (7.3), 2nd best rebounds (4.8), attempted the most free throws in his career (shot 91%), tied his best FG% ever (46.3%), attempted the most 3s in his career while making 37.1% of them.

nah. Dame hasn't slowed down at all. all Zion's shown us is that he's uber talented, and a pussy. I have no confidence that Zion will want to be a Pelican if he were to play his contract out over the next 5 years. Lillards defense is no better or worst than Zion's.
So how do we win a championship in the next 5 years? I'd rather have Lillard than Zion to accomplish that, mainly b/c i don't believe i'll have Zion actually playing the majority of that time. At least i know Lillard would be committed to winning, and he's capable of accomplishing it and has proven he can. he just needed more help in Portland but they got to a point financially where they simply couldn't improve their roster enough to get him to that level. CJ has always been his 2nd best player.

Lillard/BI/CJ is a trio that would be very difficult to contain offensively. Outside of Jokic/Embiid/JJJ/Bam, there isn't a team that could leave their big out there if we had a lineup of Dame/BI/CJ/Herb/Trey. We find that 5 that can defend the high screens and protect the rim and we'd be good to go. We'd have all the assets needed to go find that rim protector. You could trade Dyson and whatever picks you want.

Stats say something different to your belief to the fact that some would trade Harden for Dame

Anyone in the league would see this as a lateral move.

To answer the question you would ask, no i would not trade Zion for Harden either, only people I would trade Z for would be Luka and Giannis.

Dame played almost 60 games and his team didn’t even make the play in game, Zion played 29 games and had us 10 games above .500.

Again, I’m not trading the 23 year old that’s shown best player in the league potential for a 33 year old that is declining.

Too old, and I have exactly zero interest in paying Dame $63mil at 36 years old.

That doesn't get into the issue with you'd automatically have to trade Herb before his extension is ready, and you'd have to trade Trey Murphy before his extension comes up as well.

Until he's an expiring, that Dame contract will be an anchor.

If you have Lillard, the question is how do you win a championship in the next 1-2 years with a trio who is very likely not good enough to win a championship while you also have to offload assets like Herb and potentially others to stay under the tax.

Gotta do it on a darn near minimum contract.

That's not the issue, fitting it under the tax is the issue, and the contracts would have to be miniscule.

Can't Herb decline his option and become a RFA this offseason, meaning he will get paid starting next offseason? If so, we definitely can't afford Dame's contract going forward if we also plan to keep Herb.

What star is doing anything on their own? The best teams have good depth of both starters & bench players. If we can gain him & not jeopardize depth, I’m in. We are a playoff team when healthy & without Zion. That has been established. We didn’t make the playoffs because we were plagued with injuries & many games without Zion.

Silver lining:
I saw significant growth from Tr3y, Herb, and BI. I’d bet there will be a visible improvement next year with an entire offseason. I’m on the fence with Zion. It’s great having a generational talent that plays. When they don’t, what’s the point? He’s tits on a bull

the Blazers have a terrible roster, one of the worst in the league.
and they were 26-24 before the injuries started happening, and that's even with Dame missing 12 of those games and they went 5-7 in those.
