I know this topic was beat to death during the draft, but this statement is still pretty impressive.

LINK

"I can honesty say that I've not seen anyone that works as hard as Buddy Hield does." Alvin Gentry, 35 yrs coaching

Lots of other good stuff in this video.

Hearing Woj attempt to pronounce New Orleans is like nails on a chalk board.

The more interesting sound bite to me was Gentry saying AD will go from 32% from 3 to "closer to 40%".

Hopefully it's because he's going to be taking only really open three pointers

I wish Gentry would stop trying to make him a 3 pt shooter.

I'll accept new ORleeANs. Even though its pronounced new orlins. I'll never accept someone saying new orleeeeenz.

I know this looks odd but its as close to phonetic typing I could get.

I'm with you. AD is at his best when he's around the basket. I understand that will be times when he'll shoot the three, but if they try to turn him into a stretch four that will not maximize his offensive threat IMO. If he was able to handle the ball well off of the dribble then the threat of him popping out hitting the three would be a great addition to his game. Unfortunately, AD isn't that great off the dribble and right now he's not that great of a three point threat so opposing defenses would gladly let him stay out there and shoot all the threes he wants to.

I'm born and raised here and for most of my life pronounced it ORleeANS. I've only changed a bit in the past few years because they've beat the N'Awlins thing to death and it is becoming ingrained. I still fluctuate though.

"Nawlins" is the worst. Cannot stand when people say that. Especially when they correct someone saying it another way because they think that is the authentic way.

I've never heard a native say N'Awlins when mentioning the city, pretty much a tourist trap kinda joke. Only really like in joking instances. Only really hear new orlins from other natives including myself.

Yeah that is pretty true but when ever i hear the city mentioned say on like a nation level pretty often you may heat new orleeeeens. For some reason or the other its commonly said this way by those not from the area. Just my 2 cents

Regarding AD and 3 pointers, we all agree primarily because he's shooting 32% and the other centers on the roster aren't roll men. If AD were hitting the 3 at 40% and the "center" was someone like future Diallo instead of Stone Hands, it might seem like a better idea.

It'd still be taking Davis away from his current biggest strength, but shooting the 3 at a 40% clip is also an elite skill and might be better for the team if you had someone else on the roster that was great at diving to the basket.

Regarding the pronunciation, Woj has been here enough to know that's not the local pronunciation. He's doing what he feels is grammatically proper and thinks he's better than us.

If he has an open look for a 3 I am fine with it, but I hate the idea of taking him away from what he is best at.

Gentry said they've been working on Davis in the post this summer. No need to panic.

Yeah, even Gentry said earlier this off-season they want to work with him to develop some low post moves.

I'm sure he will still work on his threes. I mean this isn't NBA2K. You can diversify your practice and training to build and refine multiple aspects of your game. You don't just show up and put 5 credits into three point shooting.

Yats, too. I can handle New'Awlins. Nawlins is just a poor attempt at it.
