It's fair to ding him for this. I'm just saying, people are melting over him missing a load management game like he's actually injured and out indefinitely. Why can't we wait for an actual injury to melt? Is that too much to ask?

I don't like him resting already. I despise the effort he's giving on defense but...

Seeing how it took him 10 games or so to get acclimated last season then he looked like a completely different dude and went the F off, I'm gonna give it at least 15 or so games for him to come around and get back to that form.

That Zion is what we need. If it's this Zion all season, it won't be good enough for us to do much of anything of note IMO. But add THAT Zion to this squad, and I like it.

Interesting

Love it. Spoken like a true professional (something this league has very few of any more).

The desire to get rid of BI has grown to be irrational. BI is an exceptional player, and I have no doubt he wants to play as soon as possible. There is no real evidence to the contrary. It’s
frustrating because we don’t have access to all of the details. So people speculate and assume the negative.

Please let this narrative die. You can't get in shape playing 30 minutes in a game twice a week. That's just not true..

I believe Coach K over you.
I believe my eyes over you.
You should believe your eyes over you too.

Letting Zion play basketball does not mean 2 30 minute exercise sessions a week. What it means is Zion ain't getting on the treadmill or doing laps in the pool. If you want him to run you have to make him run within the context of playing basketball. That means 5 on 5 live action, not layup drills and shooting practice with coaches.

Just to clarify, I’m not melting - I’ve already fully melted on Zion.

Zion is 23 years old and needs load management 4 games into the season because he continues to not put the work in to take care of his body. He missed the play-in game last year because he mailed in his in season rehab.

Jonas and CJ are professionals. Watching them last night was a joy. Just two vets absolutely school a young squad on basketball.

In my opinion yes and no. When we were clearly fighting for the playoffs at the end of last season and Zion refused to come back until he “felt like Zion” even though he’s coming out and doing wind mill dunks in practice and acknowledges he was healthy gets him lumped in. That was reprehensible, it was the end of the season and a playoff run and worse than what BI is doing this season in being a twat and not playing through soreness right now in games 3-5, which you can at least reasonably argue make sense in the big picture (again I make that comment with the understanding he is dealing with nothing structural wrong with his knee). So even though last night may have been a team decision and not his, Zion does not get the benefit of the doubt from a perception standpoint. He has to earn that like CJ and JV have.
Not accurate. He wanted to come back and Griffin said he was not cleared to do so by the medical staff.

CJ and JV are old school. BI and Zion are AAU generation.

CJ was doubted his entire life and has an internal fire. Jonas is from an environment none of us can imagine. They have work ethic, fire, and know how incredibly fortunate they are to create generational wealth. BI and Zion are completely different. Incredibly highly thought of since middle school and signed as top-5 players at Duke.

BI has now played 62, 61, 55, and 45 games in his four years with the Pels. I think the first two were shortened to 72 games because of Covid. Still…. The trend is not your friend. Hoping he somehow plays 65+ games this year, but I seriously doubt it. He is 26, and I’m all in favor of moving him for a quality guard/big man.

Not bad enough. If he REALLY wanted to play, he would have played. Not buying it. Not anymore.

How do Zion and BI see a guys like CJ and Jonas and not feel ashamed? Or a desire to be like them?
Brandon Ingram is so frustrating.

Great answer.

He should have added "and because I want to be a role model for the rest of the team".

A true pro.

A few others on the team can learn from him.

Yeah, you clearly do not follow professional sports. He cannot overrule the staff and put himself into the game.

This is comical. You think stars don't run things in the NBA?? How many coaches have been fired because the star player wants it. For reference, go check out the minutes restriction Darvin Ham put on LeBron for this season. LeBron said the hell with that when he wanted to stay in the game, and it didn't even last three games.

"My knee is sore!"

"How did you hurt it?"

"I didn't, it's just sore!"

"Oh, well then just take a fricking month off then!"

You cannot go out there if the medical staff has told you you’re not ready to go.

That opens up a whole arse pandora’s box where if you injure yourself further the team could cancel your contract and everything.

Saying you don’t like the minute restrictions or the coach is completely differently.

Val has the same philosophy IMO. One of the best abilities a player can have is availability!
