Why?

CJ’s on a different timeline than Zion
CP3 isn’t on the same timeline as Booker.

This line of thinking is archaic. NBA changes fast.

Let’s make this black and white. Zions timeline for us is the next four years. At most likely. If we are building around Zion, that is the timeline you should focus on.

Yeah right now Zion is already a top 10 player in the league when he's right. You have to assume you'll be getting that when he comes back from injury at 21. You put guys that have won/done big things in the playoffs now to show him the way. BI and Zion making the playoffs asap is critical to developing them. They need to know what it takes.

You can't tell me after the run the Suns had that the Pels can't find a way to get into a WCF/Finals in 2-3 years

Good trade, Pels leaning in on Point BI

I really like Graham off the bench instead of NAW. Plus, we kept Hayes in the deal which is even better.

Graham's shooting off the bench will be fantastic.

The Pelicans will also receive New Orleans' 2022 first-round pick (with protections) and two future second-round
I imagine it has been mentioned here that the article claims we are giving ourselves our own pick as part of the trade

I'll allow it

I'd take a different angle.

For me when you say someone isnt on the timeline, you refer to where your core is relative to where the player being brought in is in terms of winning and being able to play to that level for X period of time.

In CP3/Booker's case, Booker and the team were ready to take the leap, and CP3 was someone that can play in that space and further elevate, and clearly has some legs left in him, so they are on the same timeline in that respect

McCollum and Pels are similar. Which isnt to say there isnt risk.

McCollum is an undersized 30 year old guard. It's just as possible he ages like Kemba as he does CP3. BUT I love this deal, one of Griff's best TBH

I don't think it will be strictly point BI.

CJ is a pretty good PG in his own right. He always balled out when Dame got hurt.

Why?

Because it hurts the chances Zion demands to go to NY?

It will eventually be Point Zion. The high pick and role with BI as the SG and Zion with CJ looking to spot up on a help seems pretty desirable for the Pels.

Zion will have the ball in his hand plenty, but WG is unlocking BI before our eyes.

One of the things he said was he hasn't seen Zion's desire to play since he got here. So yeah he's trying to manifest Zion to NY even when they're talking about us landing another all star

Very nice trade. Get to potentially keep the pick as well. This draft is very meh outside of the top 7 or so.

Zion is going to be amazed at how easy the game will be for him.

Last time he played he'd face 3-5 defenders and only have guys like Bledsoe to pass out to. Playing next to CJ/BI/Jonas you have 3 guys that defenders follow out to the 3 point line and Herb is great at finding the right places to cut for an easy dump off.

What's not a croc of shite is Zion hasn't had much fun playing here and I think that's about to change dramatically.
