re: Chris Paul's agent informs Hornets that star won't sign deal, wants trade to NY

Here's an argument for the Magic to go all in and trade for Paul in an effort to keep Dwight. Pretty much a go down swinging strategy.
LINK
Clippers, Celtics, Warriors, Magic. Demps has a lot more leverage than I thought he would.

The Magic would trade some combination of Brandon Bass, J.J. Redick, Ryan Anderson, Daniel Orton, and Jameer Nelson to the Hornets for Paul, along with a first-round pick in 2012. That's right. The Magic could lose both Dwight Howard and Chris Paul for 2013 and have no first-round pick. Disastrous-sounding, I know. Here's why they do the deal.

Marc Stein says on twitter that that Magic will try and unload Howard before the seaosn starts.

What a garbage package from the Magic. They have no shot either.
The NY Post is denying that the meeting between Leon Rose and Demps took place and that he has not demanded a trade for CP. Wonder what their angle is, because I don't trust the NY media.

The Magic's garbage players are only slightly better than the Knicks garbage players

BTW, anybody know what this amazing news is that Hornets247 has been pumping for the last few hours?
Gotta be ownership im guessing

Don't see anything on their site so I don't know what you're referring to.
But you'll see a lease deal before ownership, IMO.

They've been tweeting about it.

Yeah, in that HR thread about the ownership rumor today 42 seemed to imply knowing an awful lot of good news about the ownership stuff.

I was in that meeting with your dad.
The information here is not what I heard, but it's more twisted . . . like in the game 'telephone' . . . Than wrong.
There is good news coming on many fronts. Let it happen. No need to guess, speculate, get upset, etc.
Also, I'm thinking no one's job is at risk. People are a part of things who don't make money at this... like me. Joe gets the money, I get the girls. That's our arrangement, and the ladies love it. Hugh is pleasant to many people and was clearly friends and is good friends with who I assume is the father spoken of. All legit.
No one was told not to speak of stuff, but I asked and was in turn asked to let them manage the message. No problem with that.
Message: let the good new happen in the franchise. Forget Chris and focus on the first of several big announcements . . . One of which is surprisingly close. And the above isn't wrong-wrong, just not dead on.

Hornets fans who are stressing over CP3, know this- Some GREAT news is coming; several great announcements actually. Despite the fact that
CP3 might be traded, I think we will look back at this year as the best one in franchise history 20 years from now. #BigChangesComin'
@hornets247 if what ur saying turns out to be true looks like i will have picked a good year to fly to New Orleans from Australia!

Lease deal. 10 years on top of the current lease. No benchmarks or opt outs. Book it.
There, I broke it for you early.

Paul for C. Billups, L. Fields, 3 1st round picks (within 6 seasons) and 100 million dollars paid over the next 5 seasons.
Impossible due to the Ted Stepien Rule unless the Knicks find a way to unload somebody for a few extra picks.
The Stepien Rule says you can't trade away first-round picks for two consecutive future seasons.
The Knicks have already traded away their 2012, 2014, and 2016 firsts to the Rockets and Nuggets, meaning they can't trade any more firsts without acquiring additional ones.

frick Chris Paul.
He can take a pay cut if he really want to play for the Knicks.

I think it's damage control. CP3 was handling the rumors fine but going from rumor to agent demand cranked up the heat a few notches and CP3 doesn't want to be the bad guy.

They've signed Bellinelli to a long term deal?

the "several great announcements" does have me very intrigued...

one is they are selling the naming rights to the arena i believe

has that site ever broke news? and all of the guys on HR with info have pretty much gave up on passing stuff along.
Posted on 12/2/11 at 12:18 am to NIH
I dont think they've broken a lot of stuff. But they do put in more time, and have a better understanding about basketball and the Hornets, than anyone else locally. Jimmy Smith from the TP and these guys are basically the only local media with any basketball knowledge at all.

1) lease
2) naming rights
3) ownership
4) trade CP
5) win rigged lottery
6) profit

since some of the guys on HR became indifferent the info has really dried up compared to what it used to be.
