Chris Paul's first choice is to play for the Knicks, sources say. He's willing to wait & sign w/NYK as free agent next summer.

CP3 would also consider signing extension w/LA Clippers. But Clips' 1st choice is Dwight Howard, sources say....

Clippers will do whatever it takes - outside of trading Blake Griffin - to get Dwight, sources say.
Well...thats that.

Gotta send him to the Clips before Orlando sends Dwight there. Especially if he's willing to take way less as a FA.

If he's really willing to play out the season, leave as a FA, and take a ton less money then Demps has no choice but to trade him.

If he's not gonna sign an extension, it would be Cleveland and Lebron all over again.

Only LeBron signed an extension before signing with heat and left cavs with a ton of picks. Not sure Paul would do that.

The problem with CP playing it like this is that we will most likely get less value for him trading him to LA...Especially given that LA is such a young team with lofty long term aspirations, not necessarily "win now".

I have a feeling that they would be willing to wait until seasons end to pick him up in FA instead of emptying out the coffers in order to possibly have a somewhat successful season. (IE not NBA championship) We may have to put a few ridiculous trade offers to other teams to get a little leverage over the Clips

ETA: not saying we shouldn't trade him, just saying he's put us in a bad situation with all his garbage...

"Sources say." You sure these aren't Fletcher's tweets?

I dont understand you people. Chris Paul has been here for six seasons. He has played his heart out and played at an elite level. Wanting to try his luck elsewhere after his contract is up is not a slight on New Orleans or the fans. The thought that he somehow "owes" us something is ridiculous. The only thing he owes the team is to try and play his best every night for as long as he is under contract which he has always done.

Chris Paul is a gigantic open pussy that's full of sand. His bffs got to make super teams so he stopped trying while pouting. Every once in a while he would put on a show to let teams know he still has it but for the most part, he ain't give a frick.

Yes and no.

Broussard's go to source seems to be LeBron's puppet masters and CP3's agents, CAA and World Wide Wes. CP3 silenced them pretty effectively after The Summit with Monty and Demps so if this is coming out through Broussard it's not a rumor and the timing isn't coincidental. I'd say this is an "I didn't ask to be traded" trade demand and he wants to be traded before the season starts.

However, he's probably lying about signing as a free agent with the Knicks. If McNamara's salary calculations are correct no one leaves $70 million on the table, but do you really want to call his bluff and force a disgruntled Paul to stay here? Unless Demps can't get a decent offer it's time to trade and rebuild.
