It's of my opinion that Anthony Davis wants to play on team surrounded by other All-Star caliber players. Who should we be targeting to make that dream a reality, and how confident are you that Griff can get it done?

Add Kyrie or Durant and presto...

Edit: confident? Not really and I don’t wanna go that way either. I would rather trade AD and build long term. If they could flip AD and land Tatum, smart, and a slew of picks, then add sometime like KD, that would be the tits, but that shite ain’t happening.

Zero chance

The only we can potentially assemble a super team is winning the lottery and trading AD. No all nba typenplayer is gonna sign here anytime soon until we start competing

I know it's a pipe dream, and I'm prepared to get a nice return for AD and build from there.

But, if Griff wants to keep AD he must have a plan, right? I'm just curious what others may think it would look like. I know he has history with Irving, but even with his addition there would have to be other pieces added, and the subtraction of others.

Irving/Hoilday/Davis would be a great foundation but what could/would the rest of the roster look like?

Edit: I'm well aware that all this shite is hypothetical, but so is landing a top 3 draft pick, or getting both Tatum and Brown from Boston in a Anthony Davis trade ??

Basically what the roster is now plus our pick. Let’s say we get a top 3 pick and we flip that for another star or use it to add Ja.

ELF/JA
Jrue
KD
AD
Randle

I would prefer to move the sandy vagina and build slow. I want something that lasts for a decade, not a couple of seasons.

Edit: none of this shite is happening btw.

I think the sales pitch would be

1) More Money staying with the Pels
2) The Lakers are an unraveling shite show
3) No team you go to will have a teammate better for you than Jrue Holiday
4) Give me until next offseason and we'll have built up enough assets to do something like the Boogie trade.

Griffin is supposed to have a good relationship with Kyrie, but I just can't imagine him pulling in a high level free agent this offseason. If AD needs to see a significant roster upgrade immediately then he's as good as gone unless they win the lottery.

Christ almighty.

We’ve gone from “how long will it take to rebuild” to “can we assemble a super team” in just a few short days.

This place is truly funny sometimes.

If KD leaves, you don't need a "super team" to win it all.

Look at the next best teams. Milwaukee has a stud and two borderline AS types and role players. Houston has a stud, a declining stud, a good big and a bunch of role players. Toronto has a stud, a quasi All Star, a declining former AS and role players. Some team is gonna get to the WCF this year with 2 stars no worse than the Jrue/AD combo.

Its about building out the rest of the roster and maximizing it. You can't have a roster where Elfrid Payton going down destroys your season

Anthony Davis desire is to be paired with other elite talent. This is the era we live in, hate it or love it. All I'm asking for is meaningful commentary... Not rocket surgery

If you have your panties in a bunch cause you feel AD gave you the middle finger, I feel your pain but take it to the next thread and fantasize about landing Zion.

Crewz sorry if I haven’t seen your opinion on what I am finna ask you, but what’s your take on the AD situation? Meaning would you try to reconcile and fix things and bring him back? Or go through with the trade this summer?

If we somehow luck into a top 2 pick this year, there is a very good possibility of forming a "super team".

Otherwise you're hoping for white, Culver, or garland. Then trade AD for Tatum, brown.

A core of (rookie)-holiday-tatum-brown has a good bit of potential if they reach it.

Say it's white and he reaches a modest 12/4/7, holiday maintains 20/5/7, brown can come in and improves to 18/5/2, and Tatum takes the 3rd year leap to 20/6/3

You could argue that core (and a viable defensive big) can contend if everyone continued to progress near their potential.

You have to try and reconcile and try to get him to sign the extension. But be prepared for him to say no and have your plan in place for that too.

Emotions should never be a part of business and the objectively smart business move is to get him locked up long term. If he says no, that's fine too. But I can't even make the argument for not offering him the extension

I don’t see how we get a superstar as I feel Jrue and the AD compensation will probably make us a late lottery or barely making the playoffs. I would like to see what a team with Jrue, Brown, Tatum, and Smart could do with solid coaching.

It would probably do fine in the regular season. But the playoffs are about stars who can get theirs even when the opposition knows every one of your moves, your countermoves, and your counter, counter moves.

I understand peoples desire for new. To get the bad taste out of their mouths. To try something else. But the best chance of this becoming a real contender any time in the next 5 years is the Pels winning the lotto and Zion/AD becoming the modern Duncan/Robinson

That would be unbelievable.

Irving and KD are out of the question. They are gonna resign with their own teams or run to NY.

If Griff can get AD to commit to the supermax, I'd chase Kemba. He seems like the right fit for us. Will likely leave because his team is stuck in no man's land. And has never played with any other stars. And he seems like he's not to worried about market size, just winning.

And if our pick doesn't hit the lotto, try and move it along with Hill for a good 3 and D wing to fill out the starting lineup and go from there.

Kemba's a Free Agent this summer and this came out this week:

quote:

Report: Hornets not trading for Marc Gasol soured Kemba Walker on Hornets

...Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN:

"I got the sense in talking to people, that trade deadline really deflated him. When they were pretty close on a Marc Gasol deal, and it fell apart. It didn’t happen. He goes to Toronto. And he looks around and goes, 'Come on, what are we trying to do here?'"

Whoever gives Kemba his next contract is going to regret it. Same goes for Jimmy Butler. Chasing guys like that should no longer be the dream. With or without AD, they need to slow down the process and do things more organically.

Maybe in a year or two, you sign a vet who helps the team and helps the culture the way Milsap did in Denver. Maybe you give Marc Gasol his last big contract in the summer of 2020 or you grab JJ Reddick in a year help groom your young guards while also giving you a perimeter threat.

But no chasing guys like Kemba or Butler just to try and win a little more now

Agree especially on Butler. Feels like he is never happy and is quick to let people know about it. He is toxic for the development of this team
