Its pretty well documented that for large portions of games and the season, the Pelicans did not appear to be running much of Borrego's system, like they did early in the year.
Well, then it's obvious, that Brandon Ingram single-handedly made those changes....

It could be. And we could trade with Cleveland and get a great deal and all is well.

Again, your association with BI and system takes no account for he players that are there with him. Fit and role is clearly the issue. Mitchell solves all of those issues as the franchise alpha scorer and leader. BI will no longer be the primary ball handler or will be forced into the closer role as Mitchell will be the bonafide closer and has the clutch gene.
BI also won't have multiple guys who plays in the same space allowing him to work the midrange. With better gravity from the perimeter and less gravity into paint, he can do what he does best. I don't think Borrego system is the issue on it own.

The only one he would want is "Give me the ball and I will move as slowly as possible and then take a midrange jumper"
He likes the Willie system because he lets BI do whatever he wants instead of what's best for the team

They'll come around eventually. They'll also one day realize that James Borrego is not John Wooden. The guy has some offensive principals that fans like, but they have somehow turned Borrego into a wunderkind, which just isn't supported by any NBA results.

Find me someone that thinks this

Just to comment, two franchises that were both in the playoffs are highly considering Borrego as a HC. Meanwhile we seemed to abandon his offensive system after about 2 months.
Alarm bells should be going off in Griff's head. Maybe the highly sought after assistant should be our coach instead of Willie

I know, I know. Bloggers know all, but let's just assume they sometime make shite up when rambling through another week or podcasts...

Y'all act like abandoning portions of "Borrego's system" is some cardinal sin. Frankly, it doesn't surprise me, because one of the biggest complaints about his offense in Charlotte was that they were passing up quality drives to hunt for 3s, thus they were extremely streaky. While some of you think that's the future of the NBA, others, like myself, recognize that it puts your defense at a major disadvantage. Which leads to his downfall, Borrego's defenses were horrendous at Charlotte. How much of that is from giving up more long defensive rebounds and runouts off of missed 3s?

quote:3 of the last 4 teams in the playoffs are in the top 15 in 3pt attempts. Boston and Dallas being in the top 4. Pacers (15th) played bad defense all year and yet they’re in the conference finals because of their offense production, particularly from 3. They have the third most attempts in the playoffs. The roster he had in Charlotte was/is a toxic nightmare because of a shitty front office.

Ever wondered why SVG got fired and why WG got hired?

Yeah, who thinks taking 3 pointers is important?
*looks at teams who took the most 3's per game this season*
*looks at who is favored to win both the ECF and WCF*

This.
Could be true … not saying its not, or as you state a bunch of bloggers/podcasters pulling shite out their azz to validate their narratives. From what I saw the only change to the offense was moving more towards Zion at point right before ASB. The Zion centric offense was up and down in terms of success. Lead to CJ leading team in FGA per game. Not sure that was the expected result.

We don’t think; it is the NBA currently. Now if we played in 1992 your theory would hold up.

I like Borrego more than BI

I get a kick out of these takes that BI single handily sabotaged the Pels offense via bloggers/podcasters hearsay. I stated in an earlier post the only change I saw with the Pels offense was moving more to a Zion centric offense right before the ASB resulting in CJ leading the team in FGA. BI actually led the team in assist and took the least amount of shots in his tenure here in NOLA. Real selfish and not a team player … lol. Sounding more and more like a bunch of ‘mean girl’ blogger/podcasters with an agenda.
I’m all for making moves for the betterment of the Pels, but start with facts as a basis. Pels didn’t make any moves before the deadline, team didn’t markedly improve post ASB, CJ led the team in FGA, ZION/BI couldn’t finish the season healthy and Pels are looking to add a lead facilitator. That’s the story.

You're going to find yourself swimming upstream here.

Also facts- BI played pretty horribly when he came back and was absolutely embarrassed on national tv in a playoff series where the team needed him to perform. Instead he was absolutely shut down by a guy that didn’t even make an all defensive team. But oh you’ll say BI was injured- well lets like you say start with facts- BI was healthy enough to play and was horrible during the time the team needed him the most.
