bout time someone said it. I thought i was going to get to the end of the thread.
Goes to show you the caliber of this board when no one knows who bo mccalebb is. And people saying he is a scrub.

Yeah, there were some mind-numbing posts in the first page and a half.
McCalebb has basically priced himself out of the NBA.

More truth about Bo (since some fiction has been laid out on this thread):
1) The only reason he ended up at UNO rather than a major school was grades.
2) Monty Towe recruited him to UNO - not Buzz Williams.
3) Major schools tried to get Bo to dump UNO after Katrina, but he stayed loyal.
4) Anyone who "saw him at UNO" would know he was dominant against all competition (he hung 35 on LSU, for example) even while lacking a consistent jumper. He has one now and would easily "make it" in the NBA now with his great speed, quickness and hops.

i read an article the other day saying he was getting NBA offers near 5mil a year, but A)it would be a pay cut and B)he has a large buyout.

Bo didn't have fans at UNO let alone now. If he did I think more than 10 people would have showed up to the games at the Lakefront Arena.
Posted on 7/16/12 at 4:49 pm to JabarkusRussell
no lake front arena after katrina, bro. He would bring a nice crowd to the old uno gym. Back in the d2 nation championship days of lsuno, they used to call it the thunder dome or something like that.

Whatever the arena was, he didn't fill it

You are clueless. He would help put people in the seats in the Arena. He is a NOLA legend.
Anyways, the Spurs are looking at him hard
quote:
The Spurs are “seriously interested” in signing New Orleans hoops legend Bo McCalebb, reports the Italian website Sportando. “Bo Lester” has been content in dominating Europe with his current team, Montepaschi Siena. But a drastic budget reduction is dismantling the squad, making McCalebb the top prize on the European market. The problem is that the NBA only allows the Spurs to offer $500,000 to buy out McCalleb, and European franchises can offer a much larger buyout: “San Antonio Spurs are seriously interested in Bo McCalebb, as reported to Sportando. The problem is that the buyout offered by the Spurs is not satisfying Siena. Mens Sana is trying to monetize the departure of the American PG with passport from FYR of Macedonia this summer, considering that the contract signed by the player doesn’t have any buyout this year, for both NBA and Europe. McCalebb has an NBA out just at the end of the upcoming season. The PG should pay by his own part of the buyout if he decides to leave for the NBA now. In Europe Fenerbahce Ulker and Unics Kazan are targeting the player and can offer to Siena a bigger buyout, over the million of euros.”
Fletch, you need to start a movement to get Bo Lester in a Bees uniform!

Can we pay him more than 500k???

That's the limit on buyouts, not what the Spurs would pay him in salary. Like for Ayon we gave him $500k towards his $1.5M buyout and he was going to have to handle the rest himself.

He'd be money coming off the bench. Hell, he could beat out Vasquez for the starting job Id think. Let Rivers focus on backing up the 2.
How much money do we have left to spend?

I believe it's about $4 - $5 million depending on how much of Brad Miller's deal counts towards the cap. But A) if Demps were interested this report would be about the Hornets and not the Spurs and B) I don't see Demps stealing guys out from under the Spurs.

Yea I'd love it of we could get him. But will it prevent us from offering a max deal next year?
Posted on 7/23/12 at 2:59 pm to Hazelnut
how old is this fella again?
Posted on 7/23/12 at 6:04 pm to tigerNation09
Bo Lester graduated with my lil cousin, so he has to be about 26 or 27.
Oh yea.... We lead, others follow

I seriously doubt it. Brandon Bass couldn't do it, why would he? I was a grad student at UNO when Bo played and no one gave a damn about the basketball team.
