In 2011 Macedonia, ranked about 47th at the time, came out of no where to finish fourth at the Eurobasket tournament. The team was lead by the tournament's 2nd leading scorer Bo McCalebb. He was also named to the all-tournament team.

Top 5 Tournament Leading Scorers:

1. Tony Parker 22.1 P/G
2. Bo McCalebb 21.4 P/G
3. Pau Gasol 20.1 P/G
4. Dirk Nowitzki 19.5 P/G
5. Juan Carlos Navarro 18.7 P/G

All-Tournament Team

G- Tony Parker
G- Bo McCalebb
G- Juan Carlos Navarro
F- Andrei Kirilenko
C- Pau Gasol

Good company to be in. If you don't know, Bo McCalebb is a New Orleans native. Went to O.P. Walker and UNO. Was named the Sun Belt player of the year.

Obviously, he has skills. How does one start a fan petition to put him on the Hornets summer league team-- or a tryout of some kind?

I just found out about him tonight, actually.

He's legit. Was named MVP of the Italian league for 2011-2012.

What would the Hornets have to lose by giving a proven NOLA native an opportunity to play PG for the Hornets?

McCalebb is much better than GV and is basically the best PG in Europe. He would at worst be a super-sub in the NBA.

I remember hearing about him. I doubt you can do any type of petition or anything like that to get him some sort of tryout. I'm not mocking you by any means at all, but this isn't a high school or all star team. Unfortunately for him, he probably just isn't good enough or he'd be on an NBA roster already.

Those guys don't just go unnoticed with the amount of scouts there are now-a-days.

not impressed. that video looks ok but there is a reason he stayed in school 5 years and has played overseas since. dont know his story is but 30 nba teams keep scouts in europe and he has not made it yet. he may have made a bad decision early on that he cant rebound from. not with that home town talk either(tracy porter). earn a roster spot. hell, he may be that guy who loves his current status. he's not more than one of them cats you see at the end of the lakers bench who wear tank tops and boxer shorts under their warm-ups!

No doubt the NBA scouts know who he is.

In fact, here is a scouting report from after his last year at UNO: LINK

My main point is that I think he is a legit player that would bring excitement to this team, especially since they are lacking proven point guards.

Since 1999, only the Spurs (4), Lakers (5), Heat (2), Pistons (1), Celtics (1), and Mavs (1) have won the NBA title.

I'm sure the front office is trying their best to build the best team they can, but it's simply a tough league to compete in.

Since we probably won't win much over the next two years, I think giving McCalebb a shot would be good for fans and, consequently, potentially good for Benson.

Heat didn't have a proven point guard, only the other teams. and how could he be a proven guard since he isn't in the NBA?

All in all, I think it's just because its he's from New Orleans and that's the deciding factor. Be honest Bo, be honest

I loved 09 as much as you but if if you think his play outside of the nfccg & sb were worth what he wanted then im sorry. Not much since feb 2010!! Earn it. These teams are in the business of winning. Leave that feel good story mess to owners like Jerry Jones!! The Hornets are trying to build something special. If we were winning titles with a great team already then i'ld buy in but not at this point. Sorry.

5 year in college then straight overseas and it took a third team to settle him. Im just saying. Build, win then do the pleasures.
