There hasn’t been any official announcement concerning the victor, but during the most recent episode of The Bill Simmons Podcast, the eponymous host asserted NBC came out on top around the 1:44:00 mark, saying:

“One of the funniest things ever is that we’re all pretending the TV deal wasn’t done like a week-and-a-half ago…

I think it’s done. I think Warner already lost it. I don’t know why we’re waiting til after the playoffs. Maybe that’s how they have to do it, but it’s a wrap. NBC’s getting it.”

We still haven't heard anything about local rights, but it looks like national rights are expanding with ESPN, Amazon and NBC each broadcasting games.

Hopefully, chuck and the gang will move over to NBC. Can’t break up that national treasure.

Ernie has already said he's staying with Turner. But it sounds like Chuck, Shaq and Kenny will be able to leave. Will they all wind up in the same place though?

Seems like he’s just speculating. I hope it’s not true, I love the TNT crew. We all lose if they get broken up.

Yeah I’d be willing to bet Shaq goes to NBC but Ernie, Kenny and Chuck may just retire if TNT loses

TNT still has right to match any outside offer.

From the article I linked:

quote:

Earlier this month, we learned that NBC was willing to pony up $2.5 billion to secure NBA broadcasting rights, which meant Warner Bros. Discovery (TNT’s parent company) needed to fork over $2.8 billion if it wanted to win the bidding war.

It's possible they leaked something to Bill Simmons to put pressure on TNT, but I can also see Zaslav not paying. Cutting costs has been his focus since he got the job.

As I understood it Earnie is the engine behind the show. So it is kind of a big deal to lose Earnie.

Supposedly he would be their lead guy for march madness and baseball.
