Why would he want the team he's going to to lose maximum assets?

This is pretty common. It's not about stripping the team he's going to of assets, it's about Washington can trade him to anyone, so if you work with us to get a trade we can accept, we'll work with you to get you to a team you want to go to.

Thats why i'd be looking more at Lavine if I were Griffin. He's a little younger than Beal, will take less assets to get, and I think his expectations for success would actually be in line with our timeline.

I agree. Lavine is less proven but the age and lower acquisition cost lowers the risk.

I have to imagine before trading for Beal Griff would at least have a conversation with his agent to gauge his interest in resigning. I can't see him blindly taking that big of a risk.

True or not, the narrative on this franchise has changed dramatically if we’re even rumored as the top destination of a disgruntled star.
If the rumor is true(I don't believe it) it would remind me of the 15 minutes when Minnesota looked like they had turned the corner.

They'd hired Thibs, KAT was turning into a star, Jimmy Butler was there, Wiggins still had potential and Kyrie put them on his list of destinations.

Definitely don't believe it, however in other news soon to be Pel Kelly Oubre has 32/7/2 on 67% shooting tonight

And he has one year left. That is super troubling.

I mean, if New Orleans is at the top of his list, then playing with Zion and BI is obviously something that he thinks will work and wants to do long-term. And you know what? It's probably a good plan for winning a title in a couple of years.

This isn't like Toronto's buying a year of Kawhi, where Kawhi had no desire to go there.

I don't see Griff making a move like this so early. Plus I don't want a player like Beal this year, I want Zion and BI to keep developing as playmakers and I think Beal would hurt that growth right now.

On the other hand, think of what Beal’s gravity does for Zion. Teams absolutely cannot pack the paint. Zion inside, BI midrange, Beal distance.

That is a potent offense. Ridiculous almost.

Defense would be a disaster. You’d need a total lockdown defender at PG to go with Adams.

I mean, they know that Kira has more value than either of them. Crummier players means we have to include even more picks and swaps.

What kind of salary cap problems would we have in resigning him?

I think Beal would be better for BI than he would Zion, actually.

I was just posting about this in another thread. It's the same conundrum: if he plays well, then you don't need to trade him.

I could see that. BI is one of our only creators. Having another guy that can be instant offense for him.

Beal would absolutely love Adams’s screens.

Yea Zion is already wildly efficient and I don’t think teams are going to say “we’ll let Zion beat us shooting layups instead of Beal and BI from the perimeter” so I don’t know that much changes for Zion. But BI? His catch and shoot percentage goes up dramatically from day one.

Yea and Luka will steer clear of any criticism, I’m sure.

Watch Carlisle get fired a year too late for us.
