I'm sure Monty has a great relationship with the Bensons and Loomis too, that's not going to save him if things don't get turned around. What coaching/GM hire has Benson made based on friendship? His reputation is hiring good people and letting them do their jobs.

Louisiana sports fans have a hard time disconnecting popular choices for the casual fan and what's best for the organization.
Which is why some on TD have said in the past that DJ Augustin would be a "draw" for the team.
*guilty of this myself when I thought Stro would be a good fit here and of course Marcus Thornton.
It's too early to panic, give this team time to gel. Nothing against Avery Johnson, but he tends to wear out his effect on a team quickly, much like Skiles.
Both would make better college coaches or NBA assistants.
