Good post, sir. I always thought we needed to shift to turning CJ into a center after we got Murray without giving up BI. Zion/BI/DJ is a really, really good 1, 2, 3 (in whatever order you think they belong). NBA is about stacking talent.

Ideally sure, but how do you turn CJ into a center? That’s almost harder than turning BI into a center. And then you have the problem of hoping that BI changes his play style because you’re losing a large chunk of your shooting with CJ going out.

This board has gone to shite lately because of some arguing back and forth for 10 pages in every damn thread.

I'd trade CJ for Ayton if we could get that done without giving up additional assets.

You'd have to play hawk a TON more if you do that move to make up for CJ's shooting

I've been thinking about brooklyn as a trade partner.

They are in the very beginning stages of a rebuild and probably dont want Cam Johnson and Claxton's long term money when they dont really fit the timeline.

BI + CJ + How many picks? for Claxton + Cam Johnson + Bojan or DFS

You get your center, you replenish your wing depth and you dont lose much shooting at all.

I would rather BI for Collins/ Kessler straight up.

Or Kessler for (3) 1st is still better.

shite BI + 1st for Kessler/ Colins is still better than sending out both BI+CJ+picks?? We better be getting a top 20 player not a "good center" making 30mil

I think Ayton is overpaid and I don't really care for him, but I do like how his offensive game would fit with Zion despite not being a 3 point shooter.

One thing i'm really not interested in with a center is him being a scorer, like Ayton is. I just don't think we need a 5 that can score, unless that scoring comes from the 3 point line. If they can't shoot 3's, then i'd rather they be an elite defender.
Speaking of elite defender, PHX was always a good bit better defensively with Ayton on the bench than playing.

We just don't need a $35M/yr center who can't shoot 3's and can't defend well.

You mean we'd have to get offensive production off the bench from Hawkins at a level somewhat near what we'd expect from CJ, and I don't think that's something that is close to happening. I was hoping that woudl happen, and that CJ would be expendable then, but that doesnt' seem likely at the moment.

If we move CJ, I'd be looking for a starting 5 that can play perimeter defense with some rim protection, and a good bench player, and i'd give up picks to make that happen.

I think it's pretty obvious the Jazz are goign to be looking to move John Collins soon. Lauri is their 4, and Taylor Hendricks is the future their as well.
Although I don't think the Jazz actually want to win this year, despite giving Lauri that deal.

This is the trade I was thinking. Ayton is overpaid, but he’s a legitimate center. They have good center depth. If the rookie shows out maybe they take CJ to clear their books, or move him to a third team for pieces they prefer.

I would be incredibly shocked if Griff traded CJ.

I still think BI is more likely. Hopefully something comes together very soon. Playing with fire one way or the other though.

CJ also has two years remaining on his deal like Ayton, the Trailblazers aren’t going to want to bring him back, and they already have a log jam at guard. It’s such an odd team. Short story, you could make it work with CJ to a third team, but not to Portland direct.

Not if you sign and trade. He’s going to have to stay healthy to be worth that money anywheres. Griffin played this one well. Bi can’t miss 10 of the first 40, be 3rd in scoring, have zero playoff series wins, then ask for near max. Not gonna be able to do it.
