I mean we finally play a good game, everyone is banged up, and our best player reports to the trainers that his hamstring is tight during a shoot around? What the frick?

Is this a Zion problem or is this a staff problem? Are we encouraging these dudes to miss time if they don’t feel 100%

This is about the fact that, across the league, injuries are significantly higher when a player plays three games in four days. Zion has an injury history. This is not about Zion saying that he doesn't want to play; it's about the team wanting to protect him.

Last year was pretty healthy with a new head trainer. I think Paul George and SVG were right from a few seasons ago. Players don’t practice enough any more to harden their bodies.

So the staff is soft is what you’re saying?

ETA: say what you want about “it’s one game” and “we’ve got to keep guys healthy”

We all know how important one game can be when we get to the end of the season, we are not good enough to afford to make decisions for the long run. We’ve got to try and win every game we can now, if he gets hurt, he gets hurt. Sitting guys out is not going to make a difference in the long run other than losing games we need to win. IMO

It is an identity created from the top down .

I think we all assumed it from listening to griff preach and word salad his way through every speaking opportunity but the second he put up those wimpy banners in the gym it should have been obvious to the entire world .

Yea. The team from top down is not serious about winning and it either rubbed off on Zion or he noticed it from day 1 and mentally just can't look past it.

It has NEVER made a difference sitting Z or not sitting Z. I seriously doubt there's any soreness at all, they just needed a good reason to sit him.

Or if he complained about sobe hamstring soreness that's minor or doesn't exist, he doesn't want to hoop.

Man some of our fan base just struggle to rational basic understandings .

Zion played 70 games last year being managed exactly like this . Resting b2b or 3 games in 4 at the start of the year .

So if it works why fix it .

They’re running with it again . They can’t rest Zion on the premises of “ load management “ so they made up a reason

It’s common sense . Come on guys why we arguing this

Did it work last year? We were a 9 seed and Zion got hurt at the end of the year anyway.

It’s never worked to baby him. It’s honestly also never worked to play him. The only solution is to trade him.

He’s already exited his athletic and mental prime. He is who he is at this point and he’s getting 10% less athletic with each passing season.

Do some of yall need to see 6 more years of this shite to finally get it? It’s not like we don’t have a large enough sample size of what Zion is as a human, player, and from an availability standpoint. We have had enough data/information on all 3 of those things for about 3 years now.

Game 7 and all but one starter isn't injured and our main 6th man is hurt also....how does this organization continue to deal with being injury prone year after year. It's more than just coincidences at this point

I really think it’s the culture we have cultivated

Obviously, there are some injuries that you can’t avoid like Trey’s and Herb Jones. But I also think these guys are told and encouraged to let the staff know if they don’t “feel 100%” And then they are treated with kid gloves and told to sit out for the most basic things that they could play through if we had a different attitude.

Remember Zions quote “I don’t feel like Zion” I don’t think Zion misses the playoffs because he “doesn’t feel like himself” unless that kind of attitude is being promoted by the front office and/or staff.

It’s the same reason why all of our guys seem to miss the maximum and amount of time for every injury, and the same reason our star misses opening night with an illness. Our culture is one that promotes missing games if you don’t feel right and doesn’t promote taking care of yourself at a high level.

I get what you are saying and it makes sense. I think people get tired of hearing "Zion sat out" even if it was just a few times like last year. The fear with Zion from a fan's perspective is that 2 games end up being 2 weeks or 2 weeks end up being 2 months or more.

Or maybe, your supposed star being lazy and not being held accountable is making our other guys care less. Zion is a big part of our culture problem at this point.

Show some proof of this or don’t ever say it again acting as if it’s the truth.

It just sucks because this team can't garner any excitement with out an injury to derail it. Beat the pacers in an exciting game with BI and Z playing well together and boom zion out the next game along with 90 percent of our other main contributors

Guys like Stockton and Malone and other 80's and 90's guys are unfortunately a thing of the past. Glad I was able to watch guys that knew the difference between hurt and injured.
