I can’t blame Davis that much though....obviously the Pels as a franchise didn’t do enough to make us a consistent winner. But he did what most players would do when they realize they aren’t good enough to carry their team to the mountaintop.....
He laid down and died, and allowed big media markets to push the narrative that he was the missing piece to Lebron’s Laker puzzle. I didn’t think that he had been so broken down and defeated, that he decided the Pels team that lost to the greatest NBA team of all time in round 2 of the playoffs was just not worth the effort anymore.
He literally allowed Lebron and Rich Paul to convince him to quit on his playoff caliber team before the season even started. It’s been well documented that he was checked out.
Dell Demps was not good, but it would have been fun to see one last defiant frick You to Klutch and actively shop him as a rental for whoever wanted him. Unfortunately, the NBA doesn’t work that way for small markets....but it would have been nice to watch him sit and pout on another team instead of on our sidelines.
At least Leonard had the decency to win a championship for Canada before he left. Davis probably would have sat down with a sore ego after his team showed any signs of success......That’s All Folks
