Honestly, I don't think Smith would change anything. If Detroit moves Monroe, they can play Smith at PF where he should be playing. That leaves SF for Parsons.

I think if everyone stays put Parsons is still a huge get for them.

Some sort of three way trade with Detroit and Houston may work.

All you have to watch is the last play vs Portland when Lillard burned him for the knockout 3 ball.

Yep, that's all.

How about this. Not in love with the trade. And I do not really want to get rid of Ryno especially to a team in our division. But if we really are going to get rid of Gordon we are going to have to give up something.

Phoenix doesn't want Gordon anymore. They already have 2 better highly paid guards than Gordon. They don't want to pay him $15 million to be a 3rd guard any more than we do.

First time caller, long time listener. When I first read about this move by Morey, I immediately thought, wow Parsons moves into the top 4 SF free agents. If the chatter about HOU wanting a third max player is true, sign and trade possibilities are endless. I hate to even consider helping HOU in anyway but I'm board and SizeMatters led me to the trade machine. If Melo leaves NY, which is highly unlikely, the rockets I think are his best option as far as talent and fit. Keeping Parsons and getting Melo to play the "4" would be scary, risky but scary. Thank God Asik and Lin's contracts are so bloated this 2K team isnt possible. If Morey wants to get a true big three, this trade would be interesting. LINK oh and I know TL;DR or is that just the OT?

That's not a bad looking trade.

That's actually a good looking trade I'd assume that Terrance Jones would not be included...the trade still works from a money standpoint

I'm sure picks would be involved as well

-Pels get rid of EG and frees up cap room for a C that fits next to AD

-Knicks get Lin back, a young talent in Parsons, and take a risk on EG (but only for 2 years), probably get a pick as well

-Rockets obviously get their 3rd superstar while getting rid of 2 massive contracts

I think everyone wins

Carmelo on the Rockets would make me so happy.

They don't just get rid of EG, they trade EG for Asik. If Melo forces his way to Houston, this doesn't seem crazy. The Knicks won't do much better than getting 3 decent-good albeit overpaid starters back. I'd also take a variation of the trade, although I wouldn't like it as much, that sends us an expiring Tyson Chandler and lets the Knicks have Asik.

I have no fear of a Harden/Dwight/Melo core. It could become formidable if they all decided to bust their arse and sacrifice for each other, but I don't see that happening. Who's the Alpha Male of that group? I see 3 equal Alphas that have no reason to give in to the other like Bosh and Wade did with the clearly better LeBron.

To back up what seems to be a crazy statement Melo just turned 30 and Dwight will be 29 at the beginning of the season

Just like we saw when the Heat came together, they needed at least one full season before they were able to learn how they could play together

They would be fun of watch but time would not be on their side...Harden and Melo I think could play well together but idk about Dwight

Of course this is all hypotheticals

Neither Love nor Melo really solve any of Houston's problems. It's really just a double down on who they are. Which may be a good strategy

Iguodala there would be scary. Deng would be scary.

I see no Alphas. You aren't winning a title if Harden, Dwight, or Melo is your best player.

Gets lost in all the Miami hate, but all of those guys took less money to win. Bosh was putting up 24/11 in Toronto to become a low usage defensive anchor. The Decision was awful, but since then those guys have done all the things most people want to see from players- they are a great team in every sense of the word

Believe it or not I'd be more scared of a Harden/Love/Dwight core than a Harden/Melo/Dwight core

The first set could immediately jump into the top 3 in the West; the second set could put up 150 one night and implode the next

The idea of Howard and Melo sacrificing personal stats for the team is pure comedy.

Yeah. They would be very good, especially with Love- he will do some dirty work.

The Melo team comes down to who wants to be Bosh. I can't see Harden or Melo playing defense at the expense of their offense. And Dwight gets pouty when he doesn't get his touches.

It would be a hell of a meltdown

I'm sort of hoping Miami big 3 all take way below market, say ~$10M/year, and recruit Melo to come on board for the same price. They still have $20+M to fill in gaps.

Would love to see that team play and the internet exploding is a delightful bonus

It's actually very interesting when you look at how these teams are being built

It's either spend an arm and leg for 3 superstars in league (Miami, Brooklyn, seems like the Rockets) OR build around your best player finding others that compliment his skills (Spurs, Pels are trying)
