Memphis is currently 10th and are 19-20, 1 game under .500. Can the Pels close the gap and make the play in game?

Can they? Of course.
Will they? Unlikely.
Should they? Absolutely not IMO

They could.

But they absolutely aren't.

Can they do it? Maybe.

Should they? Probably not.

Unlike last season, I don’t see how getting their shite pushed in by the 1 seed benefits them compared to getting a better pick.

Okay different question, do you think they need to be .500 to make the play in game?

No. The unpredictability of this team is predictable.

Beat a team they shouldn't. Lose 2-3 in a row they should win. Win two in a row. Lose 3. Rinse, repeat.

They've been playing .500 ball since February. They can certainly get back to .500 by seasons end. They need to go on a solid 5 game run and then continue to play .500 ball the rest of the way. I think they'll be close be the end of the year barring injuries.

If they don't come close then something went wrong. They may have too deep of a hole to dig out of, but they should be getting better as the season progresses.

For example, I've really liked what I've seen the past few games from the Young Guns bench unit.

Kira/NAW/Hart/Zion/Jaxson

It has a -.01 NetRtg in 44 minutes which may not sound great, but being neutral is a win for a bench unit and they should improve and become a net positive unit.

I'd always rather win than lose, but for the long term health of this team, it would be beneficial to get the best draft pick we can this year. I certainly would'nt complain if they finished .500 this year, but i'd rather they not and we get a top 10 pick.

Schedule in April is pretty light. Memphis has to make up like 6 missed games due to Covid so they’ll be playing frequently.

I don’t think you can make an argument for or against the Pels before the trade deadline, though.

My guess is they beat most of the playoff and top teams from each conference and then lose to the absolute shite show franchises. Whatever record that ends up being is my guess
