No, not at all. We petitioned to have the board name changed to frick the lakers because we don’t follow a team, we just want to frick the lakers

I wouldn't be angry if the Pelicans had a special "frick The Lakers" jersey night. I think those would sell pretty well.

Especially if the reverse had AD's old number and "Mr Glass" on the back

I think even before any ties it seems like it swings that way as well...

All good though. To divide the two isn't really that hard, but also be a realist at the end of the day and not a "what if"..

The Lakers would like to retain Malik Monk at their taxpayer mid-level, but Monk is also searching for more lucrative deals, sources said, despite telling Jovan Buha of The Athletic he'd be willing to return to Los Angeles on a discount.

Jake Fischer in Bleacher Report

Personally, I think this is a critical component of what happens to the Lakers this season. If they lose Monk, they will have real trouble scoring when LeBron isn't on the floor.

It would be kinda delicious if the Pelicans signed him just to frick the Lakers and improve the draft pick.

They would have to frick up team chemistry and move payroll around though. Probably not necessary since some other teams likely offer him more than the Lakers can.

Thought the article below gave a pretty good overview of lakers offseason, and it kind of makes me wonder if picking up Monk is really a good move for them.

Per this article, the lakers have the following 6 guys signed for next year

Russell Westbrook
LeBron James
Anthony Davis
Talen Horton Tucker
Kendrick Nunn
Max Christie

And team options for the following

Stanley Johnson
Wenyen Gabriel
Austin Reaves

If I understand correctly, they have one MLE worth about $6.4 to add players and otherwise can only sign vet minimums. If they use the MLE on Monk, Davis and Lebron are the biggest guys on the roster. I wonder if they wouldn’t be better off hoping Nunn stays healthy to replace Monk’s production and use their MLE to add someone with size who can protect the rim and play the 5.

this is really the only move in FA that would make any sense for the pels to take a swing on. IF they could manage to get off of DG or hayes (likely costing them an asset), they could swipe monk which would get them a good young player AND kneecap the lakers

I think we found an Anthony Davis alter account

So to recap, it sounds like the Lakers want to trade Westbrook, but not so badly that they’d be willing to actually attach anything of value to entice another team to take him. So really, not very badly at all. It would be like walking into a restaurant, announcing you wanted some food but did not want to pay for it, and then just grabbing a chair and staring at the cashier, hoping they’d bring you a meal. Sure, maybe they’ll feel bad and bring you over an order they messed up, but more than likely they’re just gonna let you sit and starve.

And because most NBA teams are not in the habit of taking on $47 million contracts — no, not even expiring ones — just as a favor without an asset attached, the Lakers and Russ are probably stuck together, victims of their own best interests, but a far cry from the happy homecoming both sides thought they were signing up for.

Precisely. The only reason that Monk might want to stay with the Lakers is that they have a starting spot to offer him. But is that worth turning down $20 million over 2 years to take $13 million from the Lakers? I don't think that it is.

we need to keep in mind (relative to the lakers picks) that both lebron and goatbrook come off their cap after this season. they will only have davis and THT under contract for 2024.

this is the year we need them to suck

Alternatively, they can flip Westbrick for a bunch of complementary pieces on long term deals that hamstring them when LeBron walks. Because LeBron is notorious for pushing for shitty deals to get the guys he wants then walking away from the carnage.

it wouldnt surprise me if lebron has already told them he's not going re-sign, which is why they are going let the new cap year roll over without trading westbrook into somebody's space (with a pick).

lebron could take a gap year, then sign with the G-league team that bronny plays for

Because Bronny will be lucky to end up in the G League at this point on anything other than name recognition.

Meh, I don't think that plays any role in what LeBron does nor what Bronny does...

G-League/overseas/college ball.... he'll be fine.

If that "dream" ever comes to fruition of them playing on the same team yada yada it could easily be FA sign situation... similar to Reef etc..

but again... doubtful. Kid has upside whether he's bron's kid or not.

Plenty of run left.... don't believe all the click bait media garnering for that attention right now. Gotta remember there's absolutely NOTHING going on in the sports world..so catch some Zzzz's and don't take the bait on HS Players

When Lebron leaves that team is going into the dumpster even further. Ask yourself who would want to go play with AD when he can’t stay healthy?

Probably so, but similar to the past with Lakers franchises they will just hit the FA market and make their splash there.

You will be kidding yourself if you ever think the Clippers are going to win anything
