A starting five of:

Beverly
Reaves
LeBron
Davis
Turner

is a quality unit, and then they have Buddy off the bench. If LeBron stays healthy, that squad would definitely be a playoff team.

Would actually be able to field a competent team if they somehow pull that off, and if the team can stay healthy.

That of course is a big IF

Thats every NBA team

Definitely have some mixes that "work"...

Melo back?

Will be interesting leading up to the beginning of the season.
You certainly do not sound like a Lakers fan.

Pat Bev’s arrival makes it more likely that Westbrook will be off the active roster by the start of training camp, per @jovanbuha “either through a trade or the team sending him home a la the Rockets with John Wall last season, according to a source close to the situation”

Which makes this win-win for the Lakers.

Beverly brings more to the table for them than THT did and it twists Westbrick’s nuts a bit to try and get him to be OK with leaving permanently.

goatbrook has no say in this one way or another. The only thing he’s assured of is banking 47MM dollars this season which honestly is a pretty fricking good consolation prize no matter what

Yeah I don't really like this as a pels fan. They are still thin on the roster regardless and they are on thin ice with injuries. I think it's still difficult either way for a full season with this make up. Their bench is gonna get roasted, though.

Their trajectory looks better than it did before last week, but this is still a talent poor team.

Their main saving graces are that San Antonio and OKC will be dreadful and Utah could still dump Mitchell, meaning there could be three teams worse than them in the west.

Problem for them is that the rest of the west is pretty fricking stacked and even teams like the Kings are trying to make a playoff run.

Lakers were .500 with AD and James in the lineup.

They don’t scare me.

As presently constructed, I agree.

To go a bit further, when Bron/AD were on the floor together, the Lakers had a -2.1 Net Rating.

And that's with a better cast last season than they have as of now.

If Bron/AD play similar amount of games, they'll win 30-35 games like last season. If they're healthier, they'll likely get a play in spot, but wouldn't expect them to be much better than a .500 team.

The only caveat is that Bev has already declared, before being traded(meaning he knew he was getting traded), that he’s going to make LeBron defend.

Which is the kind of motivation James has always needed.

The flip side of that, is that defending will wear him out quicker, and we will see roughly 60-65 games out of him.

Westbrook is out though, almost certainly.

So long as they don’t get Myles Turner, the Lakers are fighting for a play in.

Even if they got Buddy and Turner I still think they'd have a dicey regular season. It really would be a weird team that I think is more likely than not to miss the playoffs due to key player injury potential, but if they make the playoffs and are healthy, they probably could beat anybody if LeBron and Davis bring it.

I'd put exactly zero stock in Bev's ability to get Lebron to do much of anything

But I do agree, even if Lebron starts giving effort on D, he'd then have to either play less minutes, take a bit of a step back on offense, and increase the odds of injury.

A few teams…they aren’t touching Golden State, Phoenix or the Clippers.
Of course this should be the year Paul falls off the cliff.
I think the Pels beat that Laker team in 5.

Nuggets? They should be really good. Depending on health of course.

The Nuggets are good too.

I think we are better than they are but they have the best player/top 3 player in the world.
