with irving off the table seems like the "best" trade available to the lakers is GOATbrook + 2 1sts for turner & hield. you could maybe justify it:
-one 1st to take GOATbrook
-one 1st for turner
-hield as a not-so-bad salary throw-in
better than what they have, they cant go into the season like this. look at those lineups i posted earlier

They could but the amount of bitching filtering through Klutch would be intense.
As I said in one of these threads, I applaud LeBron for signing the extension but now the Lakers may be SOL if their intended target isn’t on the market anymore.
They can stand pat with Westbrook and hope someone comes available like Kyrie or they can lock in a subpar deal with Indy, Charlotte, or someone else.

Shams said to look for the Lakers to go after Bogdonovic or Pat Bev.
But then we're talking about using THT's contract instead of Westbrook's. And it seems to me that the Lakers really want to dump Westbrook. So, I dunno about that.

Pels picks just got better. That trade is terrible for Lakers. Young talent for aging injured fading star. It’s like they are tanking on purpose

Sounds like plenty of role guys surrounding LeBron… oof
Interesting.
Should be comical tho, will get great attention…
Y’all thought Pat Bev was bad? Lol.. just wait til he gets to be in the limelight
Gosh this is gonna be great. Lol
This thread/board will feed off of all of this. Love love love it haha

THT just needs more touches, not going to be developed on a LeBron/Russ team.
Beverly is a good player, maybe it’s a signal that Russ will be more of a 6th man.

I disagree. The Lakers tried to make believe THT is good, but he’s not. Poor shooter and below average defender. Pat Bev has always improved teams he plays on. He is nuts and a dirty player, but he helps win regular season games.

I think it’s a mixed bag, Pat Bev for THT is an upgrade, but add in Stanley Johnson and the Lakers gave up two out of their three decent wing defenders. They’re going to have no one but JTA to throw at the BIs, Lukas, Tatums and Bookers of the world.

Stanley Johnson is waiver wire fodder. You can find 10 guys like him on the street.

I think the biggest thing is it gives them 34 million in cap space for the 23/24 season
Posted on 8/25/22 at 1:26 am to Mulkey Man
Oh I remember Stanley on the Pels. I know he’s not even a replacement level nba player. But other than a 37 year old LeBron the lakers wing depth is worse than the Dante Cunningham, Solo, Darius Miller days for the Pels so any loss of depth there hurts them. Especially of one of the few who can actually defend the position. Plus Pat Bev has only played above 60 games once in the last 5 years. I just don’t see this trade moving the needle either way.

Really depends on what the cap ends up being. Spotrac has the max cap at 129.7 million. With LBJ, AD and Max Christie along with incomplete roster charges they’re right around 98-99 million in committed cap.
According to my calculations (and Spotrac) they would have to renounce EVERYONE, including Austin Reaves, Westbrick, Walker, Nunn just to have 31 million in cap space.
Look at the free agent market next season, and it’s pretty underwhelming for them outside of Kyrie, who seems to have made peace with Brooklyn for now and will probably return. So pretty much the next best players would be Westbrick, Wiggins and Vucevic.

It's not. Unfortunately, THT isn't any good, so losing him doesn't hurt the Lakers in any way. I can't understand why the Jazz would make this trade without getting at least 2nd-round pick back.
But Pat Bev is good. He's still an excellent defender. He unquestionably makes the Lakers better this season.
But does this mean that the Lakers have a trade lined up Westbrook? I can't imagine Beverly and Westbrook on the same team. I don't think that there are any other two players in the NBA who hate each other more than those two. If the Lakers end up keeping Westbrook, the soap opera is going to be ridiculous.
