What a dumbarse challenge. You can't take the risk of losing your ability to advance the ball.

The lakers will have another losing streak and the Pels will go on another run. This week hasn’t started the end of the world.

They aren't going to beat the Kings tonight.
OK. Now, I'm worried that this pick might not end up being so great.

Patience. The fuse is lit. Let things simmer a bit and the implosion will follow.

Hoo boy. From The Athletic:
LINK
That's the flip side to the recent Lakers success. LeBron might successfully get Rob Pelinka and Jeanie Buss to let go of the 2027 and 2029 picks in a major win-now move. And if that happens, it just means that the 2024 or 2025 pick is going to get better, as a team dependent on LeBron and Davis is only going to get worse in the next two seasons.
Edit: Sorry, Soggy. I somehow didn't see that you had just posted this.

In his most extensive comments yet on the Lakers’ lack of upgrades — and more specifically the reluctance to trade the 2027 and 2029 first-round picks that some team officials believe would be better used to chase another star player this summer — James made it clear that his patience is waning.
“Y’all know what the f— should be happening,” he told The Athletic at the end of our brief-but-revealing conversation. “I don’t need to talk.”
But talk he did. And with the Feb. 9 trade deadline nearing, his words will surely be heard inside the Lakers’ walls. The question now is whether they’ll make a difference.

They’re 17-11 in their last 28 with a lot of those being without AD

It’s not like he can give Anthony Davis back, Pels fans have nothing to worry about

He may just quit on them if they don’t make a splash.

If it comes down to fighting for a spot in the play-in, then I think that LeBron is not going to be up for that. He did that last season. If that's where they are after the deadline, then yeah, he'll shut himself down and they will suck the rest of the year.
If they look like they might get the #6 seed, though, it'll be a different story.

He’s definitely not doing that plus he’s chasing stat records

I have confidence LeGM will screw it up if given the chance.

I’d tend to agree.
I also ask what the Lake Show could reasonably get considering their planned assets.
They are keeping Westbrick as of now and are trying to package Nunn, Beverly, and one or both firsts. $18m in expiring contracts plus firsts.
The frick does that get you when teams like the Suns could theoretically be shopping for parts?

quote:$18mil in expirings and two 1sts is a pretty decent asset package.

If we judged that by the same packages some posters want to send out to add players to the Pels, that should be able to net them quite the haul. Graham/Temple/Kira and a couple of 1sts for Ayton!!!!

Two firsts that don’t convey until 2027 at the earliest (four drafts away) and two expiring contracts.
That’s a LOT of time for a team to bottom out with only some salary relief / tanking to go with it.
