ESPN story:
quote:
ATLANTA -- Reluctant to invite outside expectations surrounding his return date but clearly encouraged by the progress he's made so far, Los Angeles Lakers star big man Anthony Davis spoke to reporters Friday for the first time since suffering a stress injury in his right foot two weeks ago.
"Feeling a lot better, pain has subsided tremendously," Davis told a small group of L.A.-based reporters before the Lakers played the Atlanta Hawks. "I think the next step is [the foot] healing right now. I don't want to use timetables because that's a whole different thing, but it's healing pretty quickly.
"So when we get back to L.A., we'll do another image of the foot, and see how far it's healed."
Davis detailed the complex injury he is dealing with. A bone spur fractured off the navicular bone in his right foot. That same navicular bone -- which is located at the top of the foot between the ankle and the toes -- has a stress reaction which first appeared in a game against the Denver Nuggets on Dec. 16 when his right leg collided with Nikola Jokic in the paint.
quote:
The pain initially registered as a nine out of 10, according to Davis. In the weeks that have passed, that number has come down to a one or a two.
Davis said he received an MRI on the foot Dec. 22 and the Lakers shared the imaging with five doctors and foot specialists to determine a recovery plan. One option available to him would be to undergo a procedure to remove the bone spur. One doctor surmised that the bone spur was present in his foot since his college days at the University of Kentucky more than a decade ago, it just hadn't caused him any problems.
"I don't like surgery," Davis said. "I feel like, if it can be avoided, then let's avoid it."
Sidestepping the surgical route, Davis and the Lakers' medical staff opted for a process that will take time for rest and recovery and then a ramp up toward a return.
Just how much time will it take? That remains to be seen. Davis will undergo another MRI when the team returns to L.A. next week and if it comes back clear, he will begin treatment on the injury including shockwave and bone stimulation therapy.
quote:
Even if Davis can return to the court to finish off the 2022-23 season with the Lakers, he knows that surgery could be necessary down the line.
"Something to consider, in the offseason, to remove [the bone spur]," he said. "I think the biggest thing is the stress reaction, though, just monitoring that. Because that can definitely lead to six, seven, eight months out -- which I would rather take four weeks than seven months. I'm not saying I'll be back in four weeks -- but hopefully."

Incoming vaginitis.
Not as painful Arthritis
More of a chaffing burning sensation.

The fact that he may still need offseason surgery on the foot is big. It could obviously impact our pick from them next season.

If we pick swap this season, we don’t get next seasons pick, do we?
Posted on 12/31/22 at 9:27 am to England_Pelican
Correct. Imposed this question earlier in the season. Maybe we gamble. Maybe we figure LeBoo and toní are gone and they will be worse next season.
I guess it depends on what players would be available and does picking a guy this off-season better coincide with our timeline.

We swap with lakers this year unless our pick is better. 2024 we have the option to defer their pick to us in 2025. So two first rounders next year or 2025 and a swap this year.
At least that’s how I remember it…

Wait, so if we don’t swap this year we get an extra pick in 2025?
If there true, these mother frickers really thought an old arse LeBoo and a salty vag like Toní we’re gonna wreck shite, huh?

This year has no bearing on 2024 or 2025. We either swap this year or don’t depending on where the picks land. We can choose 2024 or 2025 to take their pick.

Gotcha. So we definitely swap if our pick is better and we have a choice next season or can defer to 2025.
They are gonna suck really bad in 2024 and may be worse in 2025.

Correct. This year, we will swap with the Lakers, because they will finish with a better pick than us.
Then, we get the 2024 Lakers pick outright, unless we decide to defer it another year. The great thing about that is that we can wait until after the lottery to defer.

To add to this, the NBA doesn’t allow teams to trade consecutive 1st round picks, so the lakers cannot trade a 1st round pick until 2027. Because in theory we potentially own the 2025 pick, so they have to hold onto the pick in 2026 until we decide to take their pick in 2024 or defer to take their 2025 pick.

They would be foolish to trade anything. They need to show patience and legitimately rebuild. Imagine had they not traded all of that young talent to us and others?
With that said, I hope they continue to do dumb shite because they cock gobbled Klutch and frick a Klutch.

At what point do they just say frick it and rest him or tell him to go ahead and do the surgery? Seems like, based on that article, they have no idea when he will be ready. Could be 4 weeks or 4 months from now

There is no rebuilding with a 38 year old Lebron. They may punt on this year but they have to go all in on next year. He’s already dropping hints of playing elsewhere if they don’t turn it around.
I think if they don’t add a game changer or someone to that effect in Lebrons eyes next off-season, he asks for a trade.
