ATL, not sure if you meant to reply to me but I was asking Honest what he meant by “things are getting interesting behind the scenes.”

I was giving you a possible reason. Since Fox isn't a shooter and CJ is, that might impact some of the secondary trades/decisions being made if they are moving on from Fox.

I’d have no problem still acquiring Huerter if we get CJ. If the total cost is something like Hart/Naw/Sato/TPE and a couple of firsts for both I can live with that.

Regardless which guy they land, Graham can't be in the starting lineup. They'll still need a complimentary Guard for either guy. Graham in the starting lineup would make the backcourt a huge liability.

I’d rather make smaller moves that give us more flexibility for lead guard in the offseason.

Like giving up almost nothing for Norm Powell?

Looks Like they running an audible. Things are getting interesting behind the scenes. It's a reason why alot of the Pels writers are switching gears.
Shocking, I tell you!!!

I assume you need to add some sort of first to NAW/Hart/Sato to get CJ and I assume at least a lottery protected first would be needed to get Atlanta to straight dump Huerter into the TPE. If I’m wrong on that and can we get either without adding a first then sure sign me up.

Zach Lowe's latest podcast just came out and around the 1 hour 17 minute mark he starts talking about CJ to the Pels. Basically he kind of likes Hart better for the Pels than CJ, he wouldn't give up a 1st and Hart to get him, although he thinks it would take a 1st to get him, and Tim Bontemps pretty much agreed.

I like what Hart does more for the Pels as well.

Yeah I just don’t see how we get CJ without adding at least a protected first if the best player in the package is Hart. But I’d love to be wrong. I also didn’t think the Blazers would just give Powell away so who the frick knows

I just don't get the fascination with overpaying for CJ

Yeah, but Lowe's whole reasoning/questioning was that they only reason we are trying to get CJ is to lock in the 10th seed. While that is possibly, partly true I think that's a bit lazy.

Seriously go look at Powell's stats v. CJ's stats. It's arguable that Powell is better and he's 2 years younger and a ton cheaper (both in salary and trade cost). WHY ARE WE GOING AFTER CJ?

I’ve resigned myself that griff is going to get fleeced in a bad trade for an even worse fit, until proven otherwise

Powell isn’t a 1. We need a 1.

Here are McCollum’s stats when dame isn’t playing and that’s including his down year this year:

LINK

25/5/6. Have him run the show as the “PG” running PnR with Zion and BI would be awesome and imo a really good fit. His defense is going to get worse as he ages and he’s already not a good defender but with the potential length the Pels have, he can easily be hidden. If Trae young can “hide” than anyone can. The problem is when he’s next to another all time terrible PnR defender that it’s impossible to hide or the other (Dame).
