I know CJ is a better player right now, but I don’t want to sacrifice the potential of Jax and Zion wrecking shite around the rim.

I’d rather make smaller moves that give us more flexibility for lead guard in the offseason.

Woj says on Sportscenter the Pelicans "tried very hard" to get Fox from Sacramento. Haven't been able to get him so they've turned to Mccollum

Welp. Guess we won’t be able to fleece them how we did with the DeMarcus Cousin’s trade.

Portland should give a first in that deal, Jax is the best player involved.

I said it in another thread but you don't trade away a guy who has shown this much potential this quickly. (Quickly as in time from when everyone thought he sucked, not time in the league.)

If he keeps playing like this for the rest of the season then he has some real trade value and you can decide to keep him or turn him into a legit upgrade somewhere.

If he falls back down to earth then he still has the same value he did a couple of weeks ago and you can trade him them.

But you 100% don't trade him now.

I'm really hoping it's one of those leaks that is out there to send a message to Sacramento telling them that we're not going to bend over for Fox and that we have CJ as an option if they don't come down on their asking price. I hope we are still in negotiations.

Yeah, i legit think Hart and Sato should be enough for CJ (send NAW to Atl for Heurter and tie the deals together to make the money work).

I like CJ the player, but his value is not there with his injuries and contract.

They would be as players but need more salary. Wonder if Kira is also on the table with the emergence of Jose?

If Fox was our first choice, i'm sure we're still talking to them.

The CJ/Knicks stuff feels like Portland trying to up Mccollum's value, to me. CJ wasn't connected to anyone but us, and after what they got for Powell and Covington, they have to do whatever they can to get more value for CJ. Gotta invent a market to do that.

I don't think anyone outside of the core guys are off the table. But the value has to be right.

What are teams going to do when Jax and Zion both are in position to cut to the rim?

Kira does not make a lot, so he is not worth trading. His value is as low as it can possibly be. He will only be included for a big name to make salaries work.

He is not a trade chip.

Sato/Hart/NAW is enough salary to bring back CJ.

Huerter comes in the TPE

Kira is on the table but at his lowest value. He’s a throw in and I’ll argue he has no more value than a second pick at this point.

Looks Like they running an audible. Things are getting interesting behind the scenes. It's a reason why alot of the Pels writers are switching gears.

Not that I really believe you, but can you elaborate?

A 3 point shooter like Huerter is probably a guy you try to add if you bring in Fox. If you switch to targeting CJ, Huerter (or Graham) becomes redundant, so maybe they target someone other than Huerter if they add CJ?

In this scenario Graham will already be losing minutes to CJ/Huerter. I kind of think Jose could take a good chunk of the rest. They might need to send Graham out instead of Hart or in addition to Hart.

Huerter is a very versatile player who can play both positions pretty well. I don't think the player the Pelicans land would affect their interest in Huerter. He's just a quality player who can play both on and off ball and one who can run the offense if needed.

Maybe not, but I do think it could impact Graham.

Assuming Hart/Sato/NAW out and CJ/Huerter in:

CJ/Graham/Jose
Herb/Huerter/Naji
Ingram/Trey/Temple
Zion?/Jaxson/Clark
JV/Willy

Tell me Jose isn't stealing Graham's minutes in this scenario.
