This is a problem, imo. We are so used to being a shite franchise, that our FO can completely blow this crucial off-season and half our fans will convince themselves we've somehow improved and sunshine pump and call the realists in the room whiny bitches.

All the fans that I've seen here voice their displeasure this week, are diehard Pels fans that have been riding with this franchise for years. We've all got alot emotionally invested into this team and them improving. So if fans want to point out the reality of the FO's failures, that doesn't make them "whiny bitches" it just makes you look stupid for justifying our ineptitude as a franchise.

I've been told I was melting 3 times on this board:

1. When the CP3 for Houston's trash trade was announced.
2. When Derps dumped RoLo to bring in Tyrec right after trading for Jrue.
3. When Griffin all but paid Chicago to take one of his best assets.

The Ball trade was certainly a lesser frick-up than those 2, but it was still a failure as a GM.

Getting it out is a form of catharsis, so it's not really pointless. It's no more pointless than defending the moves to the far reach of logic.

I will never be shocked when fans get passionate about questionable franchise-shaping decisions.

It’s a failure but the failure wasn’t he should have gotten more for Lonzo now or that he should have kept Lonzo to trade later which are the complaints most are making.

The failure was not trading him much earlier.

Per Shamit’s Twitter, some Grizz guy said that Jared Butler won’t be available for Grizz Summer League, he was taken with a pick that we sent to Memphis in “the trade”…

Right, but we were fighting for a playoff spot last season.

They don’t play in Vegas until Monday. You would imagine it’s done before then.

Butler is supposed to go to Utah, not Memphis. Atleast I think so.

You are correct but he is tied into the trade. I assume Jazz are playing in SLC SL not Vegas.

Edit: Jazz play in Vegas on Monday.

Gotcha. So hypothetically, how long could we wait before the trade HAD TO be made official?

There's no practical deadline in that regard, but you have a lot of teams involved. The more your business messes up their business the more they'll push to close the deal or ask for more compensation in exchange for the inconvenience. This could easily bleed into the next few days. Remember that Jax and NAW missed the first summer league game waiting for the trade to complete because the Lakers were trying to add more pieces to it on their end.

When he took back $15M in salary for a second to allow Chicago to fit Ball's salary. Yeah, they had room to sign him outright, but it absolutely wasn't what they wanted to do.

I mean you got 2 bench players and a 2nd out of it... Wish it was a late 1st but it doesn't seem like Chicago was that desperate to sign him considering the other moves at guard.

We didn’t have to take Temple, we obviously wanted the players/contracts. Ball was only 11 mil outgoing.

Is today the day, sons?

It seems like the Memphis trade is about to burst with all the things we fit in there yesterday. How much more can it take?

I’ll admit. It’s pretty weird the trade isn’t announced yet unless one of the teams involved is expanding it.

I wonder who that could be.

ETA: I’m captain optimism, but at this point I will be surprised if we don’t end up with one of Dragic, Lauri, or Buddy.
