Mac says he has no clue what is going on which is rare for him.
Thinks it’s just us trying to convince Dragic to come here but really is just spitballing.

Dragic is under contract
1) why would you need to convince him?
2) if it's taking this long to sell him, he's not who you want.

Exactly. Do we really want Bledsoe round 2?

Utah is caught up in this mess too with the 2nd round pick they got from Memphis through this trade not being available for summer league.
I'm not sure if Memphis/Utah really have any mechanism to force the trade to close, but it seems like if they did they would because Utah is an innocent party being harmed by this...unless they are also trying to use the Memphis deal. Bogdonavic seems as reasonable a target as Buddy for Griff.

There’s so much stuff going on right now, and the Lonzo trade isn’t done yet either. I forgot about the possibility of Bojan, that’s another player that we could realistically be targeting. I think they’d want some sort of compensation for that, even though it helps them financially.

Utah would for sure expect a 1st for Bogdonavic and they wouldn't be wrong to ask for one.

Yeah he’s worth giving up assets for.

Would Bog be an answer for a backup stretch PF? I see he’s listed as SF/PF but I’ve never really seen him play.

Absolutely, he also offers the most complete game of the 3 shooters that have been mentioned (including Buddy and Lauri), but he’s also the oldest and will cost the most in regards to assets.

That's a pretty low bar with that group

trade is done BTW
The New Orleans Pelicans announced today that the team has completed a three-team trade with the Memphis Grizzlies and Charlotte Hornets. The Pelicans have acquired center Jonas Valanciunas and the draft rights to 2021 first round pick Trey Murphy III (17th overall) and 2021 second round pick Brandon Boston (51st overall) from the Grizzlies. In exchange, New Orleans has conveyed center Steven Adams, guard Eric Bledsoe, the draft rights to 2021 first round pick Ziaire Williams (10th overall) and 2021 second round pick Jared Butler (40th overall), and a protected 2022 first round pick to Memphis. Additionally, the Pelicans have acquired guard Devonte’ Graham from the Hornets in exchange for forward Wes Iwundu, a future protected first round draft pick and cash considerations. As part of the three-team deal, Memphis has traded the draft rights to Tyler Harvey, the 51st overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft.

Shamit seems to think we ended up with a TPE for up to $16.5M. Trying to figure out the math on that though.

It’s bigger than that.
(Bledsoe + Iwundu) * 1.25 = 24.9 mil. 24.9-14 (JV) = 10.9 (Graham). So the trade is legal without including Adams.
Adams’ salary is 17.073, which would be the size of the exception (we could take that in plus 100k).

you are correct sir per Bobby marks
quote:
Nice cap work by the Pelicans. The addition of Wes Iwundu into the trade allows New Orleans to create a $17M trade exception (Adams outgoing salary) 1 trade was broken into 3 with the main component of Valanciunas/Graham for Bledsoe/Iwundu

quote:So not big enough to take in Bojan. Could take in Ingles (but do not see them trading him). Could take in Bertans if the Wizards need to unload him. Could do a S&T for Markannen with the TPE. May end up just saving it to see what happens in season. If we planned on using it now, we would have just expanded the deal and had more flexibility with respect to salaries we could take back. I guess the only thing left is seeing what we do with Hart.

And that’s part of why the extension happened last year

You think the team is holding up on the Hart signing for better options or Josh is wanting to go elsewhere?
