I mean he has to have had SOMETHING in the works here? Right?
There has to be some method to this?

Who is to say that they aren't still trying to make a deal with the Kings for one of those guys...Holmes part of it just doesn't factor in really. Granted, maybe it make some more enticing but I'm ready to start to melt yet

That's what I was trying to say earlier. Either you believe he had this "next deal" lined up to complete the roster or...

For sure. Is it possible he strikes out completely and wasted a pick on Graham? Yes, but I think the more likely answer is he's working a bunch of different angles at the same time and his favorite, probably one of the Utah wings if I had to guess, hasn't happened yet. Until his favorites die he'll try to keep the contingencies alive, and at some point he's might have to choose the best available deal or risk not getting anything he wants.

I don't think it's a coincidence that we haven't heard a peep about Hart since free agency started.

Lakers found money for Malik Monk. I thought he would be a good get as a spark off the bench. He's still young and shot the ball well last season. Interested to see what he signed for.

The Lakers are poised to add another sharpshooter to their roster, having agreed to a deal with free agent guard Malik Monk, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski (Twitter link). It’s believed to be a minimum-salary contract, tweets Keith Smith of Spotrac.

I don't understand that at all. Paying him in some other way? Appearance in Space Jam 3?

Damn that is a really good deal *for the Lakers. He is incredibly streaky but can really shoot when he gets hot.

Likely betting on himself.
A big playoff run and he's going to print money next off-season.

If these trades don’t go through, I think Schroeder or Reggie Jackson on a 1 year deal prove it deal wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world if Graham really is supposed to be your super 6th man. I’d prefer Jackson.
Nunn is also out there as a RFA with the heat. Having both Graham and Nunn on 12 mil per team friendly deals wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world either.
Also Lauri is out there as a stretch big and could probably be had at a cheaper price tag than anyone previously anticipated.
Since the Kings don’t have to clear space, maybe they would still do something like Sato for Bagley. He is oft injured but he does have a world of potential. And he has asked out so I’m not sure how much the Kings would get back for him. Sato fits salary wise.
Lauri or Bagley would be great 4th bigs to have. We could still have Wenyen or Billy as a higher floor 5th big.
Still some potential moves out there to help fill in the roster with pieces that could theoretically help.
We still got punked though. I wonder if we honed in too much on Lowry and Cp3 and that ultimately cost us the Norman Powell’s and Kelly Olynk’s of the class (just using their names as examples as there were many players in their respective tiers available)

shite like this really makes me hate the NBA….
I guess it’s not as bad as the buyout market, but I really wish there was a set hard cap.
They have a soft cap so teams can re-sign their own free agents and draft picks, and it is meant to help out smaller market teams and reward them for drafting well….
However, big market teams use it to their advantage by just being “desirable”.

Dennis Schröder, G, Lakers
Spencer Dinwiddie, G, Nets (anticipated to Wash)
Lauri Markkanen, F, Bulls (RFA)
Kelly Oubre, F, Warriors
Reggie Jackson, G, Clippers
Kendrick Nunn, G, Heat (RFA)
Josh Hart, F, Pelicans (RFA)
Bruce Brown, G/F, Nets (RFA)
Danny Green, G/F, Sixers
Talen Horton-Tucker, G, Lakers (RFA)
Hamidou Diallo, G, Pistons (RFA)
Terence Davis, G, Kings (RFA)
Paul Millsap, F, Nuggets
Lou Williams, G, Hawks
Victor Oladipo, G, Heat (inj)
(this is just a random person's list, not mine. I would add Bryn Forbes and a couple other relevant FAs)

They want to get something meaningful back for him, so unless you are willing to give up another protected first then I would go that route.
Lauri can possibly be had for the MLE on a prove it deal. His market is drying up, and he could be included in our current trade as well.
