Perkins is one of the dumbest people to get on TV ever.

ESPN should honestly be ashamed.

There is a reality where the pels win 50 games and the lolakers suck again.

Would be nice to move up 8-10 spots for free

I wonder what would increase our odds of a higher pick next year. If the Lakers run it back but add different role players, or if the Lakers blow it up and get some young promising prospects for AD and Lebron.

Yep.

We should be a playoff team next year while the Lake Show only has 7 guys under contract right now. And those include Westbrick, THT, and Stanley Johnson.

Getting guys to come in for the league minimum will be a tough sell this time around.

That 8 spot can get you a really nice prospect.

Yea seems the draft falls off a bit after 8. Hope we at least stay in that spot.

We getting a top 4 pick. It’s time to pour salt into the wound. The Laker fans bitching and calling for league intervention is going to be amazing.

Anybody know if they can trade the pick next year to move off Westbrooks contract ? They still have it but it will be the lower of the two picks. I dint know the rules.

TL;DR Next season they should be able to trade the 2027 1st, 2028 swap, and 2029 1st.

There are 2 rules limiting their options. The Stepien Rule, which says you can't trade consecutive draft picks, or rather you have to have a 1st every other year. There is also a rule that limits being able to trade picks only 7 years out.

Technically the Lakers still have their 2026 pick, they just can't trade it because we have their 2025 pick tied up with the 2024 deferral option. I'm sure maximizing the return was the primary goal, but he really did tie the Lakers hands behind their backs while he owned their picks.

They can trade 2026 IF they obtain someone’s 2025 or 2026 first. They have to have A pick every other year, not necessarily their own.

Doesn’t mean that it will happen, simply because they have no assets to acquire future picks as of yet, but that is a workaround for them.

They could have traded the 2027 pick at the deadline, so I know that’s available. It’ll be interesting to see if they use it to appease Lebron for next year or cut their losses now.

Dealing with Lebaby though, In for a penny in for a pound….

no, they cannot trade the 2023 first because it is a swap.

We have their 2023, 2024, and 2025 firsts tied down so while the Lakers own 2 of those 3 picks, they cannot trade them

I think the fact that they didn't burn the 2027 in a desperate trade says to me Pelinka isn't letting LeBron run things anymore and they won't make a trade they don't like.

If tonight is any indication, tomorrow will be consumed with everyone trying to make the best Lakers Fails compilation video. Should be a great day

I agree but the trade for Wall wasn’t going to move the needle. I just wonder if a better one appears over the summer to get off Westbrick and they pull the trigger on that one for the ‘27 pick.
