Are we GUARANTEED the Lakers pick if they don’t make the play in? Or can the ping pong balls go against us? =|
I imagine it's less than 1% if they're 8th.

Spurs currently sit at 32-45
LA Lakers are about to be 31-47 (4 games left)
Magic number becomes 3, Spurs wins or LA Lakers losses and we're guaranteed LA staying home

quote:mathematically it’s possible. But if the Lakers are 8 they’d have to drop 3 spots. The chances of that happening are about as low as winning the lottery and getting struck by lighting at the same time

Monty is going to do Green a big favor on Tuesday night to put them out of their misery!

Just saw a tweet, here you go...

LAL finishing behind all of them (8th worst) would give the Pels a 99.6% chance to get their pick & a ~26% chance for it to be top-4.

With the team starting to take real shape and defined roles becoming clear for certain players I wouldn’t mind one bit if the team saw a player in the top 4-5 picks it really liked and used some of our other draft capital to package with the Lakers pick to move up. There are no real gaping holes but one thing you can never have enough of is 3 pt shooting. Since we have small guards I wouldn’t mind finding a young guard with some length that has a solid outside shot to go with Murphy.

They gonna frick around and let the Kings pass them up

No Murray or Poetl for the Spurs tonight

I'm not sure Pop can avoid the play-in...but I don't think he's given up tryin', quite yet.

Lakers are 31-47, with @Phoenix, @ Golden State, vs Oklahoma City, @Denver left. They are on a 6 game losing streak, and are 4-16 in their last 20 games. They realistically only can beat Oklahoma City, so they should finish 32-50.
If us, the Knicks or the Wizards lost all of our remaining games, we would finish 34-48, ahead of the Lakers. Basically, the only chance we have of not getting their pick is running the table (unlikely), winning 3 out of four and losing multiple coin flips for draft slotting, or beating out the Spurs for the 10th spot, beating us, then beating the loser of the Timberwolves/Clippers game.

I watched pretty much the entire 2nd half. Another super enjoyable Lakers loss for our viewing pleasure.
Jokic is very hateable in his own right, but I tolerated him just fine today. The enemy of my enemy is my friend.
F the Lakers! Geaux Pels!

One other thing to remember is that the Lakers have not had a winning streak of any kind since Dec 31 - Jan 7, when they won 4 in a row (all at home).
If the Spurs can beat the Blazers tonight, they will be 33-45 with @Denver, @Minnesota, vs Golden State and @ Dallas left. They own the tie breaker against the Lakers, so the Lakers have to finish better than them.
We are not out of the woods yet, as the Spurs could lose out and finish 32-50. If that happens, the Lakers have to win 2 out of their last 4. If the Spurs beat the Blazers tonight, the Lakers will have to win 3 out of 4 to finish one game ahead of the Spurs. If the Spurs beat the Blazers and any of the other 4 teams, there is nothing the Lakers can do to overtake them.
