Your Top 5 rock bands of all time

1) Pink Floyd - One of the only bands I can listen to whole albums start to finish without it getting old. Not only one of the greatest rock bands of all time, but arguably one of the top 3 or 4 greatest bands ever of any genre. Far and away my favorite rock band personally.
2) Led Zeppelin - Probably the most influential hard rock band of all time
3) The Beatles - Greatest band of the 60s. The fact that each member with the exception of Ringo went on to have amazing solo careers and success with other acts is a testament to the talent of each band member.
4) Rolling Stones - Thought about putting them as my #2 band. Either way, they're unquestionably one of the Top 10 bands overall (all genres included) of all time.
5) Queen - So good musically and a great frontman.

When I make lists about rock I have to imagine if metal never existed. Including heavy metal which IMO holds hands with rock.
So with just "rock"..
1 The Beatles
2 Pink Floyd
3 Led Zeppelin
4 Lynyrd Skynyrd
5 Queen

My list changes every day. Your Top 5 would be my Top 5 on a lot of days. The Who would probably swap out for somebody here and there.
And what about the Allman Brothers? Or Sabbath? Or Metallica? Or Tool, even?
At a certain point, music is subjective and subject to various whims. Some folks will "akchually" your list and eliminate any band who was, is or will be popular.
Finally, my boys from Sheffield (Def Leppard) would be #1 on a lot of days. Because it's "my" list.
