From a purely historical sense, top 5 would be:
Beatles
Stones
Who
Zeppelin
Jimi (technically not a band but very influential)

Personal favorites:
Allman Brothers
Lynyrd Skynyrd
Stevie Ray and Double Trouble
ZZ Top
Bad Company
Foghat

Side commentary, really surprised to see so many include Pink Floyd. I'm an old rocker and they were little more than a 70s dope band. No intent to criticize someone else's musical taste. If it sounds good to you, rock on.
