Always the song that I use as an example when people ask what I think is a perfect song...
Sting "Fortress Around Your Heart"

Almost impossible to choose. The two that keep popping up in my mind are My Girl - The Temptations and Stand By Me - Ben E. King.

Stardust
It must have meant a lot to a lot of people at one time, since in Hoagy's obits it was invariably cited as his greatest achievement.
I think this is b/c there was not a hit version in the rock era, as there were w/"Smoke Gets In Your Eyes", "I only have eyes for you", "Blue Moon", "Deep Purple" & Hoagy's own "Georgia on my mind".
All of which I would say are better known now than "Stardust".

Hard to argue against Stairway to Heaven being the greatest.
My fave is difficult to single out.
Time loves a Hero - Little Feat
Xanadu - Rush
...a lot of others could fit the bill

To hard, but I'll narrow it down a bit:
Into The Mystic - Van Morrison
Time After Time (Annalise) - REM
Dear Prudence - The Beatles
Sullivan Street - Counting Crows

This Righteous Brothers version of Unchained Melody. It’s flawless.

Tom Sawyer
It has never gotten old to me and always makes me happy when I hear it.

Impossible to pick just one, but "Whiter Shade Of Pale" has to be right up there.
Hammond B-3 with a Leslie and Gary Brooker's vocal. Tasty!
