Not quite that cheap, 35 bucks.

If you didn’t go to a concert because of somebody’s political views, you could only go see like 3 acts.

I saw the Crowes on the Gentilly stage a few years back

Sometime around 1994, I was eating lunch at a little cafe near Southeastern in Hammond. I noticed some long haired, scraggly looking guys at the bar but didn’t think much of it. I just remember being envious that I was drinking beer at 11:00 on a weekday. They eventually left.

When I paid, the staff was all excited and talking over each other because The Black Crowes were at the bar, having played the night before.

Just felt like telling the story, I’m lonely…

94 had to have been close to the peak of their popularity. That would've been pretty cool, if you knew who they were.

No one said that. All he said is Willie is a lib bitch. Which he is. Still caring about Covid.

Willie is a long haired Austin singer who’s supported Democrats forever. It’s not new, and has nothing to do with his age. If that ruins your enjoyment of his music, then it sucks for you.

Right.

I doubt any of my favorite musicians share my political views. Me and Jimi probably would not get along. But I love me some Voodoo Chile

No one in this thread said they wouldn’t go see Willie. They just said he’s a lib bitch still acting like Covid is a thing.

Elton John sucks dick by choice but he’s still the greatest showman to ever live.

Willie’s had some real health problems the last couple years. Covid is probably a more serious risk for him at his age and condition than it is for you or I. The guy isn’t virtue signaling. Trust me, he was rough the last time I saw him at Houston rodeo - before Covid. As much as I love his music and road warrior spirit, I hate to say it but, y’all probably aren’t missing much. Seeing him play now would not be the same as seeing him even ten years ago. People get old - happens to everyone.

Just noticed this part - some friends who bought the tickets talked me into going with them to see him at Toyota Center in Houston earlier this year. As someone who wasn’t really a big Elton John fan, you’re right that’s a great show. He really worked and didn’t look like an old guy cashing in on the name. Great show.

Nonsense. He’s a near 90 year old man who is frail AF. Any respiratory ailment may kill him when thrown on top of his lung disease.

He’s probably also facing facts that his festival days are over. He does not have the lung capacity to project anymore. He can not sing over the volume of a band playing at outdoor festival volume. He needs to be plying small private shows. Small nice clubs.

Like BB King his final performances were in HOBlues venues or similar.

I saw him at JF on his 80th birthday. The first couple of songs were a bit rough, but the crowd started to get into it and it seemed to lift him up and for the rest of the set, he was the Old Willie Nelson.

At this point, I think Willie needs the fans as much as the fans need him.

This

slightly related, we went to a festival in Ventura last month, Phil Lesh (82) was the headliner and he sat on the stage to watch his son’s band open for him. He had a nurse standing next him the whole time. Some rando tried to come over and talk to phil and she gave him a professional back-the-frick-away-from-Phil forearm shiver

I have a friend who still has that concert poster from Hammond. I’ve been trying to get it from him for years
