I have an uncle that plays in a band with the “5th”member of U2.

Paul McGuinness, the band’s longtime ex-manager is considered the fifth member.

Those early albums may be “fun” but aren’t easy to listen to.

There is a live bootleg CD of this show for sale at Capital City Records in Baton Rouge. $15 bucks if I recall. I saw it in there yesterday.
Reading this also.

So weird how connected he was to many stars in L.A. when he was young.
I really enjoyed the Adam Hall “Quiller” novels.

or Hyperion well before GWtW.

Hyperion by Dan Simmons?

Tell me more about this book, please.
I had the King Kong one too. The only one I think I ever had. Ate in the cafeteria after that year.
In da week 'fore dey headin' ta Arrakis, when all de fin'al hustlin' 'bout done reached a near unbearable frenzy, an old crone came visitin' de mama of T-Paul, sha.

It was a muggy night deep in da swamp, at Castle Caladan, an' dat ancient pile o' cypress logs dat been servin' de Atreides family as home fo' twenty-six generations done had dat sticky feelin' it get 'fore a change in da weather, cher.

Da old woman, she was let in by de side door, mosquiters buzzin' down de creaky passage by T-Paul’s room, an' she was allowed a moment ta peek in at him where he lay in his bed, going do-do.

By de flickerin' light of a lantern, swayin' an' dancin' with da swamp breeze, de awakened boy could see a bulky female shape at his door, standin' one step ahead o' his mama, dat's for true. Da old woman was a swamp witch shadow – hair like Spanish moss, hooded 'round darkness of features, eyes like glowin' fireflies, cher.

“Is he not small fo' his age, Jessica?” de old woman asked, her voice croakin' an' rustlin' like the swamp itself, dat's right.

T-Paul’s mama answered in her soft drawl: “The Atreides are known ta start late gettin' their growth, Your Reverence.”

“So I’ve heard, so I’ve heard,” croaked de old woman. “Yet he’s already fifteen, mais oui.”

“Yes, Your Reverence, dat's right.”

Fury Road was filmed in the Namib Desert in Namibia, Africa.

And according to the two-part “What Went Wrong - Mad Max: Fury Road” podcast (available on all regular podcast platforms) Miller never really bothered with continuity between (at least the first 3 films). He saw them all as stand alone films, (albeit with the same character).

BTW, I love that podcast / they do a great job and are easy to listen to.
I second this suggestion. I was going to mention the same. He has several shows where he puts together multi price point systems (low, moderate, high).
Silver Yamaha A-S501 - $450 - Crutchfield

Q Acoustics 3020i bookshelf speakers - $381 - Amazon

WIIM Pro streamer $149 - Amazon - if you have ANY streaming services
Skip if you don’t.

Pick up some Q Acoustics speaker stands and hook up a dedicated cd player or dvd/bluray player (for your CDs).
CDs are cheap now - stick with those and streaming if you are already using Spotify or APPLE MUSIC, etc.

Trip to Pioneertown, CA

Posted by JackSmith40000 on 12/11/23 at 8:19 pm
I’m taking a trip out to Pioneertown, CA and Joshua Tree National Park. We are going to stay in Palm Springs, but I’ve considered flying into another airport and driving over. LAX is the furthest at 3 hours drive, so I probably won’t fly into LAX, but I’m looking for reasons I may want to avoid the following airports:

San Diego : SAN
Long Beach : LGB
Santa Ana : SNA
Burbank : BUR
Ontario/ San Bernardino : ONT

Are any of these nightmare airports, located in terrible parts of town or any other reason to avoid?

Thanks in advance.

Yep, my bad - I knew he performed it but I didn’t know The Band had reformed after they broke up and recorded it.

He wrote most of the songs brosef.

All this talk has me interested in digging deeper than the main three songs I knew by them. Started on Spotify and never realized that they originally did Atlantic City. I’ve started the Classic Albums episode on their second album.

Any other recommendations for songs that’ll knock my socks off? Appreciate it in advance.
